Description

I use this PC mostly for gaming, work-related applications, occasionally watching streams/youtube, and general web browsing. Recently I picked up a new monitor. I've had no problems with it so far with the build, and my only regret is that I didn't wait for Ryzen.

UPDATE 2/17/18

It's been almost a year since I built the PC, and it's still going strong. The CPU is struggling a little bit with some very intensive games, and I'd advise if you're going to get a 1080, go with one of the better/more modern CPUs like the 8700k/8600k/8400.

Part Reviews

CPU

Great locked CPU for gaming and some other tasks. Wish I had waited for Ryzen, however.

CPU Cooler

Looks great, fairly easy to install, but loud.

Motherboard

Great ATX black/white motherboard. Drivers were easy to install.

Memory

Ram is ram, I guess. Matches the color of my PC.

Storage

No issues with it, wish I had bought a larger one though.

Video Card

This thing is HUGE, like as big as my forearm. Plays all games at max 1440p usually around 100fps. Make sure your case is big enough for this GPU.

Case

Great case. Easy to build in, and is of great build quality. Would recommend.

Power Supply

Gets the job done. Modular for easy assembly.

Monitor

The colors and viewing angles are not that great, but it works as a secondary monitor.

Monitor

Cannot recommend this enough. Gsync and 144hz are amazing, and once calibrated, the colors are great as well. Pixel density is great compared to 1080p.

Custom

Great extensions, more cost efficient than buying a full kit from CableMod.

Does the graphics card fit in this case? Because when I put the two parts together on PCPartpicker it said that the DUKE would be too big to fit while still using the drive cages.

The graphics card fits fine in the case. If you plan on storing like 4+ HDDs, you'll need to get a smaller card as it does block the optional expansion for drive cages.

Do you think it would allow for a full water-cooled loop in that case with the card? I am about to buy one in a few days. All though if I did go with a loop, I would take the heat sink off and that would shortened it because of the overhang.

Is it normal if my top covers are a bit yellow-ish, instead of the same lucid white that the entire case has?

Mine aren't that way, maybe contact Phanteks?

  • 1 point

Well mine are like a washed mate white so I don't know if I should ask phanteks to replace them or not. What do you suggest? https://imgur.com/a/AoLVo

I have a 8600k I am going to put a gtx 1080 with, but would you recommend this gtx 1080?

  • 1 point

very late response (sorry for that) but I would absolutely recommend this 1080. It's a beast of a card - very quiet, great temps, good overclocking potential.

What L desk do you have?

It’s totally flawless although I’m sure you’re aware that thr 7500 can bottleneck the 1080 in some, if not most, scenarios

nice build, however bottlenecking

  • 2 points

Everyone says this. I've noticed no bottlenecking as all I do is game and watch videos, as well as some other light productivity tasks. If I was streaming/editing, would I have a bottleneck? Yeah. But with gaming? So far, at least - nope.
