Description

  • i7-6700K is overclocked to 4.7GHz and runs beautifully.
  • The 950 pro M.2 as a boot drive is amazing.
  • The Intel 750 is the bee's knees.
  • The ultra-wide monitor was stupidly expensive but totally worth it.
  • Keyboard is excellent—rainbow wave FTW.
  • The mouse is outstanding, but in hindsight, I wish I got the wired/wireless version!
  • Headphones are great and extremely comfortable.
  • Case is dece.

I'm quite happy with this build. If I do anything to it near term, I'll swap the NZXT case for a Phanteks Evolv Glass case and install custom PSU cables. Longer term I might water cool the CPU and GPU and maybe get a VR kit—will just depend on how fiscally irresponsible I'm feeling!

your choices of storage sir, is very wise. I also worship storage speed over processing horse-power

We Canadians get it rough man, Nice build tho love the desk and the scenery. Also c masterrace but shows the darkness within you with that Xbox Controller.

Nice spot! I mostly rock the controller for BF1 bombing runs and Witcher 3 laziness. :D

Looks good, I'm personally not a fan of msi but everything goes good together in this build. One thing you could do is try getting psu extension cables to match the build a little bit more. It looks good either way.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of MSI's branding either... I originally bought the card because, apparently, it's the quietest of the bunch, but if I end up putting this rig into the Phanteks Evolv Glass case, I will water cool the CPU and GPU and get custom PSU cables for sure. Then it might be pretty enough to snap some pics with the DSLR!

How does the single 1080 power the monitor? Good fps on what settings? Give me a detailed list of pros and cons on the single card to monitor if you would. I have both, the monitor and gpu on my list for the coming month

Well i don't have a 1080 but i do have a 1060 ( a 1080p beast) anyway I've seen lots of benchmarks and in all honesty you can get away with a 1070 max settings at that resolution, a 1080 is a power house and is perfect for this monitor although its up to you if the extra cash is worth it. In terms of sli vs a single card a single card is in most cases better because some games aren't or even terribly optimized for sli and drivers sometimes break and refuse to work properly, its my personal opinion that unless you want 4k than the money for sli is best spent on getting a single more powerful card. Example 1070 sli will be more powerful than a 1080 but a single 1080 will be more reliable, i hope this helps good luck on your decision!!

1080 has no issues powering the monitor and running g-sync at 100hz (on GeForce Experience recommended settings.) That said, I will probably get 1080ti and/or SLI it anyways. :p

good to hear. my old pc was a 1080p 144hz setup, so i might be a little bit spoiled on framerate. but this monitor so such a nice monitor that i really cant pass it up. will be picking up all parts for my new build next week. thanks for the info.

Getting a new desk soon, and when I do that I'll probably throw the whole build into the Phanteks Evolv case and keep it on the desk ;)
