Build

First Build ( Red and Black )

by PCkin

Description

This was my first complete build I have done by myself.

It generally works pretty well, only thing to point out is the extreme difficultly in mounting 2 top exhaust fans. This is due to the power lead going to the cpu_power, so I only mounted one.

I do like the red and black look and it does run very quiet.

For reference purposes the 4 fans are connected to the motherboard by two fan splitters whilst ensuring the system stays below the safe load.

Stress test for an hour results in a temperature of 62 degrees and 8 hours of gaming also yielded the same result.

Thanks for looking.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

This was my first aftermarket cpu cooler and it has worked brilliantly. It was easy to install and runs fairly quietly. Be careful when installing as the hint sink fans are easily bent.

Storage

It is super quick and easy to install.

Blends well with the motherboard and does not require any cable management.

Storage

Cheap and seems to run quiet too.

I would of preferred a black version so it matched the aesthetic of my build.

Case

Overall the case is very good for the price. It looks good and is very spacious inside.

I did notice the paint started to come away where the screws go to secure the sides, however, this is minor as it is hidden from view.

With the motherboard I choose, installing two top exhaust fans would be very difficult due to a power lead.

I would recommend this case, as it was brilliant for cable management and the side window allows for all parts to be visible.

Case Fan

4 Pin PWM control so it runs quietly most of the time. The bonus is it looks good as well!

They are slightly more expensive than other fans but I do recommend them.

Hey, nice build. The red theme looks really good in that case. However, I don't see why you would want to pay more for the 960 evo when you can get the 850 evo for basically the same speed. Nvme offers zero performance increase over sata SSDs in gaming. All in all though, this is a really well-rounded build.

Thanks for the feedback and taking the time to comment.

I had not looked into the 850 series but thanks for the useful information. SSDs were new to me so I just went for an M.2 one with good reviews.

well.. the read speed of the 960 evo is waaaaaaaay faster. SO no.. the 850 evo is not the same speed.. its actualy around 5 times slower in read speed

Read speed, yes it is faster. But in terms of gaming there's no difference. Of course, copying on the nvme will be substantially faster, but a game's load time would vary in the nanoseconds between the two types.

yeah maybe :D Still nice to have a nvme ssd in your system ;)
