Description

Some gaming (rust, H1z1, Project cars), mainly productivity hence the screens (alot of networking, vmware, documents and office, Specialist programs).

Some parts were bought either in sales of off friends. (Prices listed are pretty much what i remember paying)

SSD boots in no time, HD does good for storage, RAM is fine, might upgrade to 24gb then eventually 32.

Did Some stressing: CPU: https://ibb.co/fmme9Q GPU:

CPU hit 34'C max, GPU hit 64'C max

Part Reviews

CPU

Does Fine and keeps cool. With chrome, background apps (steam, malwarebytes, discord, razer, geforece, msi tools, fences, core temp, vpn and glasswire) the majority of the cores stay under 10% with a odd dart up to 17 ish on a few cores.

CPU Cooler

Getting temps of 18'C idle with the fx @4.2Ghz. and max is 34 when under long high load.

Motherboard

Does everything i need and want it to do. The killer network and audio boost are just gimmicks i cannot see. either way a nice board

Memory

Good ram, will be upgrading to more or fast at some point

Storage

Boots in no time, mainly os's and h1z1 on there.

Storage

Holds everything in place, will eventually get 2 new drives and raid them for redundancy not performance

Video Card

Bought from a friends as he upgraded to 1080. Can run H1Z1 on ultra with 3/4 render distance on my 2560x1080 ultra and v sync locks to 60 fps all the time. Will have to see what my max fps is. Gets to about 65'C ish (thermals at )

Power Supply

Again Bought in amazon sale. nice pouch for the spare cables that im not using

Operating System

Totally love Linux and would become a Linux full time guy but windows just has the most cross compatibility, user feel and ease of use. Plus 150 games in my steam library and only 40 are Linux supported :/

Mouse

My mionix 7000 lost its boot loader and i just could not get it to re read so my mate stepped in and gave me his old mouse

with easy aha. i never game on all 3 of them at once tho. can run h1z1 on one screen at ultra @60fps locked due to v sync.

An FX-series CPU and AM3+ motherboard seem out of place for a 2017 build. Did you start gathering parts in 2016? Why the FX over some other CPU?

dates was wrong aha. iv had it like this for a while but only juts come to pcpartpickers (always used just never signed in lel). And i got the cpu and mobo in a bundle from a friend. its does fine (apart from hot gpu) for me so not planning on changing it anytime soon. would rather feed my hobby (android phone nut) than a new mobo for small gains

Ah, you don't even use all of the computing resources it offers now, so updating to Ryzen will offer little benefit for the investment, gotcha. A bit of an odd scenario though where you use so little CPU but find yourself wanting for more RAM!

yh i run alot of vmware, bit of a ram eater. IF i run my cpu hard like up in 90% i would have already bought ryzen. theres a little something inside me that want to because yano, everyone wants new things but its not enough to overpower the feeling of a money pit. Also iv already got a spare pc (specs aint massively good (A8-5600k/8bg/ 750ti)) and if i was to upgrade to ryzen my spare pc would then be an fx :/ seems over kill to me for a machine that doesn't get used but is there in case of need.

I have a FX-8320 on that same motherboard and that same headphones (bought that on Massdrop) and I have the same problem: it runs everything I currently play just fine, so I keep putting off upgrading to Ryzen. I only run dual monitors with my setup though. I have a FX-8120 box as my (part-time) Linux machine; Linux Lite runs really well on it. Here's to keeping the FX chips useful and out of the landfill!
