Description

I built this system a few years ago, and recently upgraded it with this 1070. Definitely feeling the single threaded performance of this chip in games, will probably upgrade to a 7700k or a mid spec Xeon E5. Run a triple monitor setup as you can see in the pictures.

I doubt this would bottleneck and there is more to it than one thinks. Especially if this CPU is really running 5.0GHz. Holy crap man!

I had a 8320 at 4.7 ghz with a Gtx 1070, at 1080 it was noticeable but at 1440p it was all but gone, I got fps on par with Intel , and it was smooth! So ya :)

Not a single thing in this build makes any sense.

What gpu was in there before? I have the same cpu as you and I eventually want to get a gtx 1080, do you really notice a bottleneck?

I'd recommend against it

Well for the time being its probably fine, I'm waiting for Kaby Lake atm. My little brother actually just got a used gtx 980 ti for $249.99 paired with an i5 4440, apparently my processor performs better than his so for the time being its fine, I can overclock higher if I have to, currently at 4.0ghz.

His i5 should be better in most games

1080 is more powerful

A gtx 1080/1070 with anything less than an i5 6500 would cause bottleneck. Maybe even a 6400 but nothing below that

Kaby lake is just more successful 10 % than Skylake that will not be a big evolution

He is currently on an AMD FX-8320. Kaby Lake would be a large improvement for him.

Nice build. The mismatched ram, is it posing a concern? I would suggest replacing with 2 x 8gb of 2133 and running in xmp. It may wake it up some.
