Description

Hey guys

I built this https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/b/Znhqqs about a month ago and during the time i knew i wasn't 100% percent happy with. It felt like their was something missing, a couple of days after i saw a featurde build of the phantom, this link https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/b/nsr7Y. I then thought OOOOOO like many others did, therefore , decided to spend some time modifying the interior of my case, to something a bit more in the theme to the out side of the case. Something clean sleek attractive and elegant i suppose.

i took apart my gtx 970 and sprayed it white, i took my 2 hard drives apart sprayed them white and re sleeved my cables, sprayed my power supply an changed my ram completely. Got rid of the crucial bullistix and swapped them for the Kingston hyper x same frequency just and more suiting colour. i was going to go with a custom water cooling rig but very difficult in this case as it is itx plus it would take up to much space and i don't like busy interior so i went with the h75 and covered the tubes in plastidip. the hard drives in addition to painting them i put the g1 gaming logo on them. So many ways i tried to do this, stencil and spray paint didnt look good, stencil and acrylics didn't look good, free hand didn't look good so i ended up using Photoshop and a vinyl print. i got new RGB led light which are controlled with a remote and has numerous colour mode and effects.

The best looking part for me is the windforce light on the white gigabyte gp. The worst part i believe to be the cpu cooling tubes. I really wanted water cooling. i still need to do something with the 2 empty 3 inch internal hdd bays , its just dead space at the moment. i have taken some pictures and i have put both the before and after pic as well as the 3d mark of and overclocked gpu and cpu. so i hope you enjoy looking at this as much as i enjoyed building it, screaming at it and playing with it .

THANKs

I'm a big fan of the glass case, white was a good choice as the different color LEDs look nice on the white.

Dayyyyum, that tempered glass! And the wind force card looks way better white, I don't really like the looks of that card but I do in your build. Good job man, I feel like it will set it off if you got a nice power supply. But you already modded it. Good job man, foreal.

2 keyboards? Also, what do you think of the monitor?

  • 1 point

the monitor has good colours and gaming is great aswell . the one think i dont like is around the bottom of the screen their is minute bits of plastic which haven't been cut properly but no even really noticeable there is no light bleed. BUT the built in speaks are the worst i have encounters do not use them

I was wondering how you colored the hoses while looking through the gallery. Plasti-dip, huh? It looks great. How did you apply it? Anything you'd do different if you had to do it again?

  • 2 points

plastidip i applied with spray can, rather expensive in the uk 20 , especially as in US its like $6 . and if i done it again i would try water cooling even just for the cpu as i think it would look realy great in the case, however finding a pump and reservoir which would fit in the internal hdd drive bays would be a bit of a mission

haha. i took it out of the box as i sent the h55 i did have back, as it was still new therefore to use the rig while modding i had to use the stock

Wow this is pretty. I just pickedup a white phanteks evolv case, but this makes me consider returning it! How tricky was cable management in this case?

  • 1 point

its not to bad at all, their is enough space at the back for cables with about an inch depth between mobo and glass. one thing i don't like about the case is the amount of fan placements there is only 1 intake and 1 out take so if you do get this case make sure you know what you are doing with he cooling situation

Nice work with the white!

How's the temp with the fan not on the radiator? Are you able to hear your fans? Noob question, what are the brown rubber things on the fans for?

  • 1 point

the 90 mm fan on the back is the main fan but i have anothers slim fan pulling air through the radiotars on the other side so its ok. the rubber on it is to reduce the vibrations when the fan moves and yer its not very loud but you can he the air flow not the actual fans but the pressure of the air makes it hearable

  • 1 point

Thanks! I have the same case and just picked up two Noctuas. Still hearing the airflow sound / wasn't sure what to do with those brown rubber things in the noctua boxes.

I'm considering this case and the 904, but I thought you needed an LED controller in the optical drive bays to get some LEDs. How do you do that in this case?

I thought gigabyte 970 windforce 3x's logos dont light up? Im bummed bc I just built my rig and my logo isnt lighting up, come to find out on forums that the 3x version doesnt light up only the g1 gaming one does. Did you put a led in yourself?

I cannot thank you enough for this & your video! Have been looking all day how to disassemble the Gigabyte g1 and found your video. Trying to do the exact same thing, paint it white. Couldn't have been more help! Haha. Now I know it looks good so I'll do it.

Nice case btw.

Can I ask what kind of paint you used on the 970? Cause I was thinking off painting that the exact same way you did it. Doing a black/white build.

how did you stencil the icon on that graphics card? That's exactly what I've been planning to do with my graphics card for the last 2 months.

Yah man, that's really awesome for build for workstation/gamer computer, the case off course is very nice, but lack ventilation in my opnion, only one intake fan to cool that GPU does not looks too good.

A few questions about the GTX 970 WF Edition 3x mods:

Is this the Windforce 3x card or the G1 Gaming card? My Windforce 3x card does not have a lightup logo or backplate. If this IS the Windforce 3x, what mods did you use to get the lightup logo and where did you buy the backplate from? What paint did you use for the finish on the cooler itself.

Nice build!

no it is the g1

Pretty much building this same thing because of seeing this. Instead of two ssd's gonna use one and two hdd's. Also using a 1440p monitor instead. Just personal taste stuff, thanks for the inspiration!

How did you manage to paint the logo on the backplate as well? It looks too difficult to tape. I'm looking to paint my own card white.

Hey, I love your build and was considering purchasing the case as well. But I was wondering, how do you install the aio? I have a aio gpu that I was considering putting in if its possible.
