This is two computers on one list. well a computer and storage system. So I refuse to consider this the most expensive setup on pcpp. Either way it's better than my Dell Studio 540 with a amd hd6450 2gb video card. +1 for the price tag and massive amount of storage.

EDIT: You could've at least done a custom loop. that would be amazing.

EDIT#2: I'm an idjiot, disregard my rant. This is a full room setup.

  • 2 points

New most expensive congrats, I knew when I went on completed builds that that price looked new

  • 2 points

This. Is. The best build I have seen (and most expensive) ever. Good job!

  • 2 points

So, you have a VERY large drive rack under your PC, I get that, but what are you plugging it in to on your PC without compromising transfer speeds, as far as I can tell, your MOBO only has 6 SATA ports, so if you were somehow using all 6, there would not nearly be enough to handle all of your SSDs, so either this build is fake, or you have found out an extra smart way of connecting many drives to a computer.

  • 4 points

The 4U enclosures are connected to an Intel RS25SB008 Hardware RAID controller via SAS cables. I typically see transfer speeds from 800MB/sec to 2GB/sec on the disk raid arrays and up to 3.9GB/sec on the ssd array.

  • 3 points

Are you running the SSD's in RAID or just the HDDs? Also gratz on the most expensive build on PCPP!

  • 4 points

The Samsung 960 Pro is a single drive for boot, the remaining Samsung 850 Evo's are running in RAID off the Intel SAS Controller. Mostly using this for Hyper-V at the moment or if i need a fast cache for rendering. The one issue with running SSD's off my current adapter is that it doesnt appear to support TRIM. May end up replacing that adapter with one that does.

  • 1 point

What would TRIM help you accomplish? I understand that it is a command that informs SSD's which blocks of data are no longer in use so they can be deleted, but what benefits would it give you?

(I wrote this question to deepen my understanding, hope it doesn't sound critical in any way)

  • 2 points

The performance of the SSD's will degrade slowly over time without an occasional TRIM command. Think of it like defrag for SSD's.

  • 3 points

Intel SAS Raid adapter connected to Norco 4U enclosures. Those have a SAS expander which allows for running 24 SAS or SATA drives from a single SAS channel.

Even if I had all the money in the world, I wouldn't build something with so much storage like this. Who tf needs 127 TB of storage unless you're building a supercomputer

  • 4 points

127 TB of RAM and you could probably get 10 fps on Minecraft.

  • 1 point

I have 120 gb SSD XD

  • 2 points

What is your opinion on Quadro GPU's?

  • 3 points

Quadro's are nice if you have specific needs for the drivers. Various products such as Autodesk 3dsMax, AutoCAD, Maya etc will utilize the additional features of the driver set. The performance of the cards for gaming isn't worth the money.

For my needs, the 3d software i run works fine with the standard GTX cards. Unfortunately the main render engine i use now called Arnold is CPU only rendering. Redshift and V-Ray are both fully GPU accelerated and can be quite useful.

I'd be more interested in the new tensor cores.

130 terabytes and 750 gigabytes of storage, that's more than a 7th of a ******* Petabyte.

2 TB and 750 Gb of SSD and 128 Gb of HHD, plus two hot bays and 128 Gb of ddr4-3333, lol. Is overkill enough to discribe this, I’m jealous.

Bruh I'm a music producer too and lemme tell ya I'd probably have the same thing going for me except for one thing, and that's the excess of hard drives. Like holy crap dude, unless you're constantly editing 4K or 8K footage, you probably would never even use half of that storage. Just pay for a dropbox subscription and put a bunch of files in there, then you don't have to worry about hard drives frying or other things. I have a 512 gb MacBook Pro and I've hardly used up any space when it comes to sound files, video editing I do I just export to either a 1 tb external hard drive or save a finished project to Google Drive or iCloud. EDIT also I love your username I'm a huge MJ fan

  • 1 point

For your use, you could have much better performance with a titan V

  • 1 point

Nice build. 'Grats on the most expensive on PCPP, and have fun with it. I hope you don't work too hard, this thing is a beast and you deserve to have some gaming time for the work you must have put in to buy this thing and put it together.

  • 1 point

Damn bruh, your motherboard costs more than my whole rig...

  • 1 point

Multiple issues I see here just from my perspective.

  1. Why you need multiple mouses. (Maybe has 4 arms)
  2. He gets 7 250gb samsungs ssds when he could just get a 2tb one
  3. You need one big case

Overall interesting build but only running at 4.4 ghz. You could think about overclocking since there seems to be no budget to this.

I thought this was good. The overall storage he has is 130.75 TERRABYTES.

...And I'm still needing money to upgrade my gaming pc. : (

Awesome Setup for what you need it for probably. Great job!!!!

  • 1 point

No, I'm just curious where do all of these SSDs and hard drives fit into that case? Or is it just kinda laying around somewhere?

EDIT: Yeah, I'm stupid, I didn't notice the basically a server of SSDs under the case.

so on the intel page it says the i9-7980XE only supports DDR4 2666 https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/processors/core/x-series/i9-7980xe.html Did you have to do any Over Cloaking to get the DDR4 3333 working or is Intel full of ****?

I am working on this same build right now and am a little paranoid of getting the wrong ram. Any help would be awesome!
