Description

Recently upgraded to Ryzen after debating whether or not I should wait for RAM prices to go down. I am not disappointed by how things turned out, and I'm excited to be supporting AMD with my latest build.

I decided to forego 16GB of memory and instead put that extra money into the motherboard I really wanted. The Asus Strix X370-F is gorgeous and I couldn't be happier with how nicely the RGB light around the motherboard I/O accents the build.

I went with the R5 1600 CPU simply because it packs a lot of power and is very affordable. I have so far managed a 3.9Ghz OC at 1.35v and have my RAM clocked at it's advertised speed of 3200Mhz (also at 1.35v).

I was contemplating selling my water cooling parts to help fund this upgrade, but I couldn't justify the prices that I'd have to sell them at so I decided to keep them in my system. Temps are great and it's nice and quiet even under load.

The 390X will just have to do for the foreseeable future, because I haven't been impressed with the latest GPU advancements that AMD has made--this on top of the GPU price fluctuations forces me to stay with this card, but it's still a great performer.

I upgraded my monitor to the Acer XF270HU which is a 144hz, freesync, IPS display and it really looks amazing. I previously had the Acer G257HU, but wanted to increase my refresh rate and be able to capitalize on AMD's freesync for a low input lag experience.

Overall I'm very happy with how this build came out and can't wait to see what's next from AMD!

Looks awesome! I've been looking for a nice motherboard upgrade and I think you've tipped me over the edge of getting this strix one.

I think the build is pretty great. That said I wouldnt suggest supporting big companies with your money, just buy whatever suits you best. Anyway the parts are decent, and i wouldnt not recommend any of them

Also the 1600 must be a pretty big leap from the FX8350. Which games do you play?

Mostly Rocket League and Diablo III, but I also sometimes play ARK, Rise of the Tomb Raider and DOOM. I noticed in a few games that my fps went up drastically due to not being cpu limited as I was before. It's definitely nice being limited by my GPU since that will be an easier upgrade down the road.

Wow nice, I'm sure this build will do great at all of those.

And yes I completely agree, it's much better to be cpu limited. The 1600 should be very good for a long time, so you can just add a new gpu

Details on the liquid cooling supplies? I'd love to try this, I have same specs.
