Description

This is my first build and first time doing a custom loop. Due to size of the front radiator and the extended reservoir I had to modify the case to hold the pump and res.

Other than that everything just slotted in. Though I am unhappy with the bends and will more than likely redo these. First I’m going to see how far it will overclock. So far I have managed to get to position 83 in Time Spy (1xGPU). I am by no means a seasoned overclocker so I am going as I learn, currently my CPU is running at 5.1GHz at 1.35V and 5.2GHz at 1.38V stability tested with Prime95 for 24 hours.

CUSTOM LOOP:

EK Velocity Copper CPU Block

EK Velocity Copper GPU Block and Black Backplate

EK LC Solution CoolStream SE 420 x 140 Radiator (Front)

EK LC Solution CoolStream SE 280 x 140 Radiator (Top)

EK XRES Revo D5 Pump with the 250 Extended Reservoir

12/10 EK PETG Hard Tubing

OC SCORES: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/12072229

Cinebench R15 - 2340

Time Spy (1 x GPU) - Position 83

Superposition 720 Low - Position 14

Superposition 1080 Medium - Position 6

Superposition 1080 High - Position 7

Superposition 1080 Extreme- Position 41

Superposition 4K - Position 32

Superposition 8K - Position 29

For a first build you killed it. It looks fantastic. Bends look good, but i am imagining what you'll make i think you'll kill it. Good job.

antonjetpack 2 points 4 days ago

i was going to say, that for a first build is insane. great job with the loop

Darkshigeru submitter 1 Build 2 points 3 days ago

Thanks for the kind words

Darkshigeru submitter 1 Build 1 point 3 days ago

Thanks! The imperfections in the bends are hidden rather well in the photos, the mandrel I bought seems to be ever so slightly too small so I am ending up with uneven bends.

It's a beauty :OOOOOOOOO. What do think about the ram, cpu, gpu and mobo? 1+

Darkshigeru submitter 1 Build 1 point 3 days ago

Thanks

RAM I have yet to overclock past the rated 3200 but I think the RGB can be tasteful and a nice addition to the finished look.

CPU is destroying everything I throw at it so far and due to the loop I am yet to have the temp go above 72 degrees while gaming, however I have hit 95 degrees while doing a 24 hour prime95 stress test

GPU same as the CPU is destroying any game I throw at it, however we are yet to use ray tracing so I am looking forward to seeing that in action and see how far that brings the temps up

MOBO I was originally going to buy the ASUS Maximus XI Hero but after hearing about the 4 phase VRM and seeing all the good words about how far Gigabyte have come from Buildzoid I decided to settle with the Aorus Master. The Bios seems a little clunky but I hear they are doing a huge update to it in the near future.

Where did you get the evolv x case?

Darkshigeru submitter 1 Build 1 point 3 days ago

Most of my parts including the case were from Overclockers.co.uk

Apart from the GPU being direct from Nvidia and the CPU and MOBO being from Novatech as OC still didnt have there shipment in yet.

Super clean!!!! I did a custom loop in my build, but went with soft tubing. I'll have to give this hard tubing thing a try sometime.

Darkshigeru submitter 1 Build 1 point 3 days ago

Thanks.

I would suggest double checking mandrel size as I bought a cheap one and is ill fitting, also in my experience buy double the quantity of tube that you think you will need. Some bends I got the first go, others took me 4 or 5 attempts.

super nice :)

CooproxXo1 2 points 3 days ago

What a clean build!

SychicMind 2 points 3 days ago

Damn that's an expensive build. Over $6000!!!!! owo Super sexy tubes though. The only one that's kinda weird is the one from the cpu block to the top rad. +1

Thinking of getting the same motherboard - PCPartPicker says I need an extra EPS power connector. Did you have the same issue and if so where did you get it from?

Darkshigeru submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 days ago

I have both 8 pin EPS connected however I get no errors if I remove one of the 8 pins, Buildzoid has done a really detailed breakdown of the Z390 Aorus Ultimate and has said you will have a hard time maxing out the first 8 pin without going sub ambient cooling.

My power supply came with two 4+4 EPS cable and then have sleeved extentions.

Ok thanks so much for the help!

We have similar aesthetic taste my new build which is also my first build is blue and white! You sure went complex for a first build, I didn't have the courage to do anything like a custom loop. Did you do the custom cabling yourself or order it? I was wondering what the red light in the case is coming off of, is it the motherboard?

Darkshigeru submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 day ago

Thank you. I don't feel building a custom loop is particularly difficult, there are tons of guides and instructions on how to do everything. It all comes down to having faith in yourself and taking your time.

The cables were pre done, bought from amazon, however in time I may do my own cables as I am not a fan of all the extra connections you get with extensions, makes it a lot harder to have good cable management.

The orange accents are from the Mobo, I have yet to download the other program to re program the lights but the orange is growing on me.

Any coil whine from that beast of a mobo with that psu combo? I wanna pick one up myself

Darkshigeru submitter 1 Build 2 points 21 hours ago

I only get coil whine from the GPU when gaming with high res and high setting or while bench marking. It's more noticeable due to overclocking the card but I am normally wearing headphone while gaming so it doesn't really concern me.

Afterglo 2 points 14 hours ago

That's good news, thanks. Solid build btw, can't believe it's your first!

GhostedGG 2 points 1 day ago

Hey, does the kingston A400 perform well? I bought it for my h200i build because it was so cheap. But now I'm not sure if I want it in my build because I saw reviews weren't that good on it.

Darkshigeru submitter 1 Build 2 points 21 hours ago

You get what you pay for, its by no means high performance but its still a cheap SSD that's faster than a HDD. It was from my previous PC so I just put it in because I could. Though my plan is to eventually move everything onto M.2

unknownpanzer 2 points 20 hours ago

What is your radiator choice? SE, PE or CE ?

Darkshigeru submitter 1 Build 1 point 14 hours ago

EK LC Solution CoolStream SE. I went with the slim rads as I think you would struggle to fit a standard size in the front along with the pump/res combo. However you could easily get the standard thickness in the top if you didnt get the 250 Res and went for something shorter as I only have about 5-10mm clearance on the top and bottom of the res.

xlarti 2 points 5 hours ago

Looks really nice, great job!

Does the RGB from the case sync up with the motherboard easily?

Darkshigeru submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 hours ago

I believe they will work as the case does come with the cable to connect to the header. But I have not connected the two together as I have the case on static white, a preset already in the case.
