Description

After planing and research for about 2 1/2 years, this is what I've come up with. This is my very first PC build and I am quite proud :')

will be updated periodically *photo's aren't as good as I'd hope. The Moto X Pure isn't all that great tbh...

UPDATE 09/26/2016 Officially purchased a monitor(LG 27UD68-W), now I can stop using my bedroom TV :D

UPDATE 09/28/2016 Was able to achieve a stable overclock at 4.6GHz. Not totally sure if I want to crank it any higher. Also uploaded VR results. fairly impressed.

UPDATE 10/03/2016 Returned the monitor..a 4K freesync monitor with a 40-60Hz window just wasn't gonna cut it for me. Probably gonna buy a 1440p 144Hz monitor with the refund I receive. ◔̯◔

UPDATE 10/05/2016 With my refund completed, I purchased the LG 29UM68-P for 276.49 on Newegg and Picked it up from will call. So far I'm satisfied..

UPDATE 12/02/2016 I've moved to Skylake (potentially Kaby Lake as well, right? Isn't it supposed to be compatible with LGA 1151?) It's not much of a move from an FX-8350 to an i3 6100, but It's nice to know know that have upgrade possibilities. Who knows..I might see what Zen's all about.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

Keeps me cool.

Keyboard

Was a gift from a friend. Makes nice clicky sounds.

I think I may be in love. Responsive and reliable.

Behold a rare pure amd build, watch as it eats its 60 fps in the wild , it is a crafty beast as it has to be with all the Intel and nvidia predators waiting in the dark corners of the forest threatening to eat it up with their price/performance teeth and their new tech claws! It is a deadly animal when cornered! Watch this while I stick my hand In its mouth mate!

Ahh it ate my hand! Why did you make me think it wouldn't?

Any reason for the FX-8350? It is starting to show age in games nowadays. But great build otherwise.

I don't mind it's age. I kind of tired of waiting for amd. Figured I'd try to get the most out of what I can, while I can. It's better than I expected considering all of the reviews comparing it to intel's latest. Still putting it through it's paces.

Nice build! I was going to do a strong AMD build but I went with intel i5 4690 about 8 months ago. Crazy thing is about the FX 8350 is its able to handle current games till this day, and since you paired a rx 480 it will be able to go VR! I would like to know the score of the steam VR test. I have a rx 480 msi gaming x 8G and with stock settings I score a 7.0

I had completely forgotten about that test, I've just uploaded my results.

I also almost went with Intel but it was pretty difficult for me to find a non-damaged x79 motherboard(wanted 6+ core processor with hyper-threading) for a decent price on eBay. Hopefully one day I'll be able to afford go x99 or above.. Until then, I'll be steady rockin' with my 8350

You didn't need that many fans, as I have no experience with AMD based motherboards I don't know how that one will fare you, but that is a pretty good AMD processor, maybe you should have waited for ZEN? Anyways, you didn't need to spend that much on extra fans and probably could have bought better storage or more RAM or something, speaking of RAM where is it on this parts list, did you have some extra hanging around?

The fans are partially for aesthetic and partially as a precaution cause of what people have said about AMD products running a bit hot. As for the Processor, I really don't mind if the architecture is that old. It's definitely waaaayyyy better than an computer I've ever owned. The RAM was a gift to me from my girlfriend's uncle and had been sitting around for about 6-12 months waiting for me to utilize it.

This build is a very nice build the only thing thats bad is the gpu, really an asus rx 480. Bad choice you could have gone with the sapphire or xfx but asus was a bad choice, overall good build.

I felt the differences were fairly negligible and opted for aesthetics. If/when it doesn't perform to my standards (which it has, so far) I could sell it and upgrade...maybe an RX490 whenever that's released..

Looks great! Any reason you only used static pressure fans? I just built my first computer in this case and am not sure what sort of cooling setup to use (CPU is air cooled, not water). Also, where did you hide the Hue+? The 3.5" bay?

Can you get 60fps on an ultrawide with that card?

at ultra/high?

Yes. I haven't been able to play all of the games in my steam library, but I know for sure I get 60+ in Tomb Raider, Battlefield 1, Mad Max, Battleborn, and Shadow of Mordor.

I am going to change my h115i stock fans, and i was thinking about those phanteks u use,the 140MP´s Tell me are they loud when under Load ? thanks in advance

  • 1 point

I don't think they're loud, personally. The loudest fans in my system are on my GPU.

I don't mind the age of the processor, It's still capable of scrapping (ง'̀-'́)ง. As far as upgrading goes, I think I may hand off this build to my cousin when I feel it's time to upgrade(I may or may not charge him...lol). But all is good, I don't mind a bit of criticism.
