UPDATE Today 6/5/18 i took the plunge and mounted the gpu vertically!! now this is the first time i ever modded any case! i finally sorted it out and i think it looks pretty bomb! trying to hide wires etc was annoying as per usual but im happy with the outcome! what do you think?

So here it is..

Its been well over a year in the making now and I just recently finished my first ever build! I had been a console game for the past 12 years and always dreamt of building my own rig and I must say I am over the moon with what I have achieved! Its exactly what I wanted and more!

I am soo thankfull for this website too and everyones comments and advice they have given me along the way. I must say building a pc is actually much easier than I originally thought too the hardest part for me was figuring out where all the cables went! xD

The only problems I ran into was the original kraken x62 being too big to fit in the top of the case hence why it stuck on the front atm, I am going to end up getting a x52 and hopefully that fits up top then I can put the stock corsair 120 fans back in the front making the whole build slightly more aesthetic. I also had a problem with the original cables that came with the psu. For some reason they just didn't fit into the ports on the mobo so I just ended up getting some cablemod mesh ones which I was going to do in the long run anyway :D other than that the build went pretty smoothly considering I had zero component/pc knowledge at all when I started! but after everything I am just glad to finally be a part of the great "master race" :P

Any questions about anything or advice then please do feel free to drop a comment!

Part Reviews

Great performance great OC ability overall a great beasty cpu. You don't want any other buy it!

CPU Cooler

great cooler works like a dream, CAM software is also a treat to use! very aesthetically pleasing and will fit in the top of majority of cases which is the reason I got this one over the x62 which is too big.

Obviously if your spending the money then you may as well get the best you can. In which case would be this! OC like a dream and works well with AURA software. very pleased.

These are absolutely the best looking sticks out there! I spent a while deciding wether to spend less but they look so good the extra cost is definitely worth it!

I believe that Samsung have the best looking SSD it looks and feels like a premium product and also works like one! great buy.

Does what it says on the tin, great boot times etc nice price good storage.

Video Card

Well well well, this is just the best of the best right now! looks, performance, accessibility to OC! Its everything you need and want! easily the best purchase I made for my build especially since I got it dirt cheap with 2 free games on Black Friday 2017!! BEAST!

One of the best looking cases in my opinion! reasonably easy to work with only losing 1 star for the bad shroud design. Other than that very solid full tempered glass case for those who are building a aesthetically pleasing pc and will take time with cable management etc.

Power Supply

good looking nice design kinda threw me off on which side is top/bottom but suppose it doesn't matter really. Plenty of power for anything within its wattage!

Operating System

well took me a bit of getting used too since I haven't had any kind of pc,laptop before but got used to it all now and cant really fault it. A few things every now and then that cause issues but what can we do? we need the windows :)

Case Fan

not really much to say about fans is there but if you want pretty quite rgb bad boys then these are a great choice work seamlessly with the fan hub + controller and do exactly what we all want them to do!

Where to even start!? soo I came from a 1080p TN 60fps monitor to this god damn animal and well its possibly the best life choice I ever made! seriously the colours, design, ease of use and adaptability is just out of this world! of course all of this amazingness comes at a price butttt in my opinion its worth every single penny! DONT THINK JUST BUY! (make sure you have the power to use its full potential tho)!

very very impressed with this! keys and wrist rest have a phenomenal texture to them and the overall mechanics of the keyboard work great! again rgb always is a + too!

Great mouse great feel, it fits my rather large hand pretty well and also has the nice rgb lighting to spruce things up for you! highly recommend.

pretty god damn good headset great sound, feel really light also have the nice RGB lighting on the sides (if that's your thing), works great with corsair utility, the only downside I can put on it is the battery life but then again its only a worry if you play 8+ hours straight although you can plug in the charger cable to play while charging anyway so meh just buy it :P

Thanks me too knew I would have to go big for my first build just to make the jump from console that much better! xD and yes! The two brands are defo the best but yes I love Asus that little more just for that monitor :P

ToxicTryhard 2 points 10 months ago

That is a hell of a build, very well chosen parts that is a battle station you got there. I recommend a monitor stand and some management on the pc side, but superb job !

Aarxn95 submitter 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

Thank you and a stand for the Asus? Or a wall mount? And yeah I’ve spent some of today trying to tidy the pc up a bit I’ll be uploading new pics soon so you can judge again ;)

ToxicTryhard 1 point 10 months ago

Yea a stand for the Asus since you have a single monitor its very recommended :)

Aarxn95 submitter 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

ah ok would you recommend any certain one as I don't really know where to look?

ToxicTryhard 1 point 10 months ago

Hi I found a cheap monitor stand on Amazon which matches your theme colour black and red.

Here is a link of my present monitor stand for my setup which in my perspective very clean and tidy for especially pc/console gamers.

Here is a wall mounted monitor stand I found this worth it for pc gamers it makes your setup very organised but does take some time installing.

There are more around as you surf around the internet but these are my choices.

Enjoy !

Zeromus725 1 point 10 months ago

Dang, lol. So what games do you use this thing for?

ps- i’m also a bit of a corsair/asus fanboy

Aarxn95 submitter 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

Basically anything from fortnite to farcry to simulators :P it’s just a joy no matter what I’m playing!

My fanboyism made this build what It is! xD

Zeromus725 1 point 10 months ago

Well, I’m sure that you love it. Great day to you :)

miniguy6 2 points 10 months ago

Nice build, I would build if I had the money but I’m poor as ****

Aarxn95 submitter 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

Ty and yeah I’m slightly poor now :P

Broski95 1 point 10 months ago

1st. Turn those top 2 fans to exhaust.

2nd. Why the **** is the 8 pin coming from the bottom thru he whole case

Aarxn95 submitter 1 Build 2 points 10 months ago

yeah that is an old pic I the fans are exhaust now and I put the 8 pin like that because its not long enough to go out the back and in the top. although it probably is I just haven't tried hard enough to move other **** out the way xD

OscarGolf 1 point 10 months ago

why is the AIO upside down or sideways, and not right side up, then you could see the NZXT logo better

Aarxn95 submitter 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

Unfortunately it’s a design flaw in the x62 the pipes prevent it being the right way up as it crosses over the first ram slot :(

SmittyDaMadModder 1 point 10 months ago

For a first time build you really nailed it, Big Time! Impressive part selection and what a balllsy/gutsy move to make when you decided to mount your graphics card vertically on your first build ever. Did you use a kit part or did you just just cut and manipulate the metal in the expansion slots area? I am eager to know. I am in the process of the build right now. I have the same graphics card and I must say it has got to be one of, if not the baddest-*** looking vertically mounted card.

I would like to know how you managed to mount the Kracken radiator on the back side of the Corsair fans. I forgot to think that task through and am in the process of coming up with a solution. Need Help please. I know the thread size and screw length are drastically different between the NZXT stock radiator fan screws and the stock corsair fan screws. Did you have to buy new crews and washers? If you know the screw size, that would be helpful.

Rock On with your badass custom rig and keep us posted on any changes or additions.

I’ll be using the same case and adding 3 sp120 fans to go along with the stock 3 that come with the case(putting 2 on top and 1in the back). Did you just plug the 3 new sp120’s into the controller that came with the case, and good to go?

Haha exactly what I thought when I found it! Aside from rgb which is pretty cool the headset is great quality!
