Description

This is my new gaming build. It includes some things I already had, (ex: Monitors). Everything else was acquired during Christmas 2016.

Notes:

1) The two M.2s are in RAID 0 2) The two 500GB SSDs are also in RAID 0 3) I have a 2TB HDD (not listed) added for local backups.
4) Something not included in this list are RGB LED lighting parts. This Mobo has an LED connector that powers the RGB lights in the back IO panel, not enough to power a whole strong of LEDs but I spliced in an amplifier to power LEDs in the case and back lighting on my monitors. I preferred this method over the normal cheap IR remote control. Now my LEDs are controlled by my mobo/software.
5) I have OCd the CPU to 4.5 at the time of this build. I could go higher but see no need at this time.

Benchmarks:

3DMark "Fire Strike" v1.1 Score: 18358 (Results ID: 11254342)

Name:

I always name my rigs after mythological gods or deities. My first was Odyssey, then, Apollo, and now Nemesis.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

This was easy to install and is insanely quiet!

Motherboard

Great Mobo! I only wish it had a standard RGB LED header.

Storage

NVME drives are the future! SATA SSD drives are so 2016!

Case

You get what you pay for. and I dont care much for the case. I wont spend over $100 for a piece of molded aluminum. This case is good quality, good price, with a unique design.

Headphones

True surround! Not that phony simulated crap from two speakers. These are light, very comfortable, and sound superb!

Custom

OMG This is Amazing.

Have you thought about mounting the GPU vertically instead of horizontally to help hide the RGB amplifier you have on the bottom of the case?

Yes. Very much so. I was going to do it but couldn't find a riser cable that didn't have horrible reviews. Each one I found had people say it destroyed their mobo and/or gpu. Considering the amount of money I put into this, I didn't want to risk it. I may change my mind later if I find a reputable riser cable. The change wouldn't require much effort, either.

could it also be because it won't fit ? I have a strix 1080 ag and I have this of case on order. I really want the card sitting there but I have a feeling it won't fit and plus even If it just did it would it limit the fan space. What do you think ?

I have one question about the case and that's if the case has any problem's with cable management?

Problems? No. Only only complaint is that there is cramped space between the PSU and a HDD mount in the bottom. So you just have to be creative when dealing with cable slack OR remove the HDD mount and mount only SSDs on the inside next to the mobo. Its no Lian Li, but it gets the job done!

Looks like a great build! Hope that it's serving you well :) How is that HTC VR working out for you? I have no experience with VR and was wondering how good it is.

Not sure where you saw 1080p for my monitors. They are 1920x1200 IPS monitors. Regardless, I splurged for the 1080 because I also purchased an HTC Vive.

How do you like the Vive?

I fail to find words to truly express my amazement! Absolutely worth the $$$!

But with having the 1080 he can always upgrade his monitors later to dual 4K displays and not have to worry about his GPU.

I recently got a Radeon RX480 8GB card and it is amazing... I only have 2 x 1080p displays, but I know that I'll be able to upgrade my monitors and not have to worry about my GPU for a while.
