Ifyou dont want to ditch the AM3+ platform, you could scout around fro an FX-8000 chip as an upgrade. Not sure if 76 is more CPU bound, and adding something like a used GTX 980.

yeah, ryzen is cool, stability is cool, but that nuka-cola nzxt n7 would look insane in here.

I have a super rare limited edition NZXT case that the manufacturer collaborated with Bethesda to get the iconography of Fallout silkscreened onto the case side.I will be playing Fallout 76 on this build which is based on Fallout (so postmodern!)

Very cool about the case. And definitely will be playing Fallout 76 myself as well. Hopefully it'll be fun!

Using old school parts to get the job done.

It'll be great to see some old parts shine here. It's looking good so far so keep it up!

May i ask why you want to use old school parts? At the moment it seems fallout 76 runs really bad on even some newer gen parts like a 1080ti

I have a Ryzen 5 build separately but awaiting a new case. Since Fallout 76 is a retro based game I figured that the old school concept fits well with the game's culture.

It doesn't make sense to me culturally to stick in parts from 2017-2019 here since this is meant to be like Coke Throwback... a retro feel with retro parts for nostalgia.

Yes but I will be using mostly for my Discord/music/gaming server. Fallout 76 mostly will be on my main rig...

Also this Phenom II CPU was the first ever gaming CPU I ever used for SWTOR many years ago so building with it has personal value for me.

FILTHY case man, glad to see that someone snatched one up and is making a build with it. Envious as hell, wish I had grabbed one when I could have.

I have to say that I too am quite jealous of that case. If I had known it was offered I would have certainly searched it before getting the Razer edition one. I feel you on this throw back retro theme. Good luck on getting some decent frames out of it with the new Fallout 76. I feel like the online connectivity may be the straw that breaks this camels back. Do you have any ideas for a video card yet? If it fails a cheap FX8350 or FX8370 may tip the scales in your favor for sure. That board will really get the most out of those chips and even the one your are trying. My son was able to play FO4 with and AMD Phenom II X 4 965 Black at stock speeds with an R9 380x Black edition medium settings 2560 x 1080 so there may be some hope yet. Cant wait to see the finished product.

Interesting build, but I hope you're going to swap out those internals for more appropriate hardware.

For example, I've just seen that NZXT is selling a new cover plate for their N7 motherboard which is Nuka-Cola themed. It would be a shame if this opportunity was missed, friend.
