Description

I work as an indie dev and needed to upgrade fro my 8350 770. I was once a streamer and played in amateur professional leagues.

I'll be using this to continue to build my company =p.

Before people ask, the Logitech G502 Paragon edition i got from EpicGames when I was invited out during one of their community events Early 2016.

I have a 1TB drive I use for backup. The 2 4TB drives are in Raid 0 and stores my games/local project files.(I remote backup with perforce quite often) The SSD is my boot drive.

CPU

Super powerful, lovely processor.

CPU Cooler

Comes with it's own thermal-paste. So i bought an extra tube. Amazing cooler, keeps everything quite and cool

Motherboard

Acts kinda funy with my APEX m800. Overall very nice!

Memory

Did not boot i had to buy a 4gb stick to overclock them memory to 3200 in order to get these sticks to boot.

Very fast

300 FPS in Overwatch on max settings @ 100% render scale)

I really enjoy it. It's kinda awkward having a 1080 main and 1440 offs. But that should change sometime next year.

Wow, you must be working on some top tier game to need that much horsepower. Im an aspiring indie dev too but I don't need a system that badass lol.

I do VR contract work. And my own game is cross platform PC Mobile. I wanted to make sure I could overpower any issues during prototyping. And still have a super strong gaming setup for the weekends.

When I played more game I was obsessed with performance and frames,I have not really lost that mind set yet lol

Thanks for being part of #TEAMROG, the CROSSHAIR is a great board. If you have not make sure you update to the latest UEFI for the best interoprability, compatibility and performance.

You noted on the system not posting with the DIMMs is very odd as those DIMMs I have tried in the CROSSHAIR and they have been validated. Having them run at their XMP values requires manual setting of values or using D.O.C.P profile which is in the UEFI. That being noted the DIMMS should run at native SPD initially.

I could not even get to the BIOS to update it until I got the sticks. I figured it was the issue. Buying the dumy stick allowed me to update.

I've never used XMP stuff, i'm gonna try it out later tonight. Thank you

If you never used XMP you should not generally buy higher speeds than 2133 as the memory will only run at the native SPD speed. XMP is required to allow the kit to run at the speed it is rated/advertised at.

Your problems with the DIMM's not posting is an issue with the older AGESA firmwares/BIOS', though you didn't need to buy another stick to get it to POST though, the solution's actually really easy. If you didn't update the BIOS before setting the clocks to 3200MHz I'm amazed it even posted at all. I have the 32GB TridentZ CL15 kit and I couldn't get 3200MHz outta them till the recent AGESA 1.0.0.6 update.

Ahh that sucks. My board has an emergency BIOS flash (from USB) feature. And nice! Everything working now? You should be able to get 2933MHz (with tighter timings as well) at the very least if you still can't get the full 3200MHz (the TridentZ models with SK Hynix made DRAM dies (CL15,16) tend to have a much harder time pushing past 2933MHz than the Samsung B.die ones (CL14), those work pretty much plug and play with XMP at this point). Also, lol get yourself another real 16GB DIMM, STAT! You're leaving a TON of performance on the table by running your memory in single-channel rather than dual-channel mode (1/2 the memory bandwidth).

Ah Unity, I've had the pleasure of Unity before, but the BP system in UE4 makes it so much faster to prototype for me. I've honestly been thinking of switching over to Lumberyard for AWS support or Audodesk Stingray for the faster workflow between their products.
