I took advantage of Black Friday pricing and built an HTPC for the bedroom. I need low noise adapters for the fans, otherwise so far so good. I have it hooked up to a 40" TV. It runs natively at 4K/30 but I'm running it at 1080P/120. I watch movies hosted on my main rig via Plex, and stream from youtube, amazon, twitch, etc.
No brainer at Black Friday pricing. Online reviews say it has gaming chops but my heaviest demand will be occasional 4K playback.
I don't have the knowledge to judge the quality of a motherboard, however I am disappointed Asus doesn't provide a utility to patch a fix into USB Windows 7 installations. MSI and Asrock provide such tools and this board replaced a used Asrock board that ended up being DOA. The board has an 8 pin for the CPU but the case's included PSU only has a 4-pin. Since I'm not overclocking, the 4-pin connected to the 8-pin slot is working just fine.
Runs at 2133 for me. Does not boot on XMP profile.*
*can't blame the RAM, it's not on the motherboard's QVL.
Fast & cheap, my new favorite boot drive.
From head on it looks like a piece of home theater equipment but it's very long to accommodate an optical and 3.5" drive I don't anticipate installing.
Just perfect for HTPC use from the bed or the couch. Impossible to lose. Battery life for months. Takes multiple drops from bed/couch height like a champ. I prefer the original k400, but these pluses work very well too.
