This is my first build ever. Before this, I've been using a Mid-2012 MacBook Pro, and I play games on it. It's definitely not the best thing, but since its overheating and heavily throttling while I was gaming, I decided to open it up. I started cleaning up all the dust and before I new it, I was swapping out the RAM and re-applying the thermal paste as well. In short, I enjoyed fiddling with it. Though changing out the thermal paste made it a bit cooler, I knew i needed an actual gaming desktop to smoothly run the games I want. (I was playing TERA that time).
After watching a lot of YouTube videos (mostly LinusTechTips), I became more and more interested about building my own PC. There are times where I can't sleep at night, repetitively browsing the price lists of nearby computer retailer shops. (I live in the Philippines). After three (3) months, I've saved up enough money and chosen each part in my build very meticulously.
When it came to building the actual PC, it took me almost 8 hrs to assemble the thing. (Building it outside the case, inside the case, installing the LED lights, and overclocking). It wasn't exactly a smooth process since it's my first time. Had to redo some of the wiring and cable management at the back and all. But everything worked out fine in the end.
All in all, I'm very happy with this build. Everything was compatible with everything and it definitely looks SICK. Everything I could ever want for a gaming pc given my budget. Overclocked my CPU to 4.6 GHz @ 1.375V and my GPU to 1515 MHz. I'm getting 70 fps in Witcher 3. (Overclocked my monitor too for the lulz). The only thing I would change in this would be adding more RAM and getting some white cable sleeving.
Thanks for PCPartPicker for giving me the courage to post my build A BIG THANKS to Linus! For inspiring me to build my PC (tho he probly wont see this - big Linus fan here :) )
Let me know what you guys think of my build!
Everything I would ever need in a CPU! Great for gaming, and very power efficient.
Got this coz of the sick LEDs (better than Corsair's imo), but it does great on cooling as well! And I love the CAM Software.
The best bang for the buck Z170 Mobo in the market imo. And it looks great!..... apart from the brown pcb.
Corsair makes good quality RAM. Can't go wrong with this.
Makes the system snappy. Less than 10 seconds boot time.
For storage and stuff. Weirdly, i love the way this HD sounds..
A BEAST for gaming!! I run most games at 60-70 fps with this because of the overclocking headroom. And those ring LEDs, man..
Most smexy case in the market imo. That 3mm aluminum on all sides makes it very sturdy as well. It's a joy working with this case a a first time builder.
80+ Gold rated PSU with full jap capacitors, can't go wrong with this.
A fairly cheap monitor with good color calibration. Got a bit of back light bleed though, but after a day I couldn't notice it anymore. Maybe its gone. I was able to overclock this to 72hz using an HDMI cable.
I love the MX Silent Keys and the feel of this keyboard in general. Those LEDs really shine bright. The CUE software needs a bit of a learning curve but it definitely allows you to customize everything on this keyboard.
The best mouse in the market imo. I waited for this one instead of buying the Proteus Core, cuz I love em LEDs.
