Description

Well my first build was last November. I recently moved into a new home and inherited a massive TV. I turned my original build into the HTPC/Living Room gaming machine. So I went with a new build based on Haswell. I kept my Sapphire 7970 for this build and was about to get another. But I've been reading about how the micro-stutter is terrible with Eyefinity and the new drivers don't fix it. I am probably going to wait for Volcanic Islands and see how they perform compared to two 7970's, or if there is a driver fix. I wanted to also try entry level water cooling and make a themed build. I went with a black and white color scheme to match the case with blue accent lights. Shout out to /u/Unisenon for answering all my questions about his "Rarity" build. Yes, I know the power supply is way overkill. I bought it awhile ago, not really doing much research, but it was a steal. Got it for $200, and for a high quality PSU like this that is incredibly efficient with monitoring software, I'm fine with it. I'm running an EX280 radiator with the stock 140mm fans in push with the 200mm fans in pull. That took a little modding and bending to fit, but I think it is well worth it. Also, I managed a stable overclock at 4.7GHz with 1.258V. I was reaching a max of 85 degrees Celsius under Prime95. Oddly, a higher Vcore led to instability at 47x and it kept crashing in windows at 48x. This is the first time I've seriously tried my hand at overclocking. So any tips are welcome. I spent a lot of time and meticulous work to do this and am very proud. Thanks for looking!

What keyboard is that? I've looked everywhere for a decent white keyboard and can't find any.

+1 for the cool build

MyNameIsDerp 4 points 67 months ago

Someone is bound to walk by and think you're playing on an empty case.

mustafa.ali61 1 Build 3 points 63 months ago

send this in to linustechtips. this will defiantly be in a build logs of the week

cjeffcoatjr 3 Builds 2 points 62 months ago

They haven't done build logs of the week in a while

JafferAli 1 Build 3 points 40 months ago

definetly don't want dorito dust on that.

joekerr1870 2 points 67 months ago

This build is amazing!! Definite upvote. Anyone know what kind of monitors those are?

Hakumisoso 2 Builds 2 points 67 months ago

What cpu block is that? nvm saw the watercooling kit.

Apach3 3 Builds 2 points 67 months ago

you, good sir, have won all my internets!

+1 for creative aesthetic use of the thermal armor. i don't know why painting it never crossed my mind...

thekasafist 1 Build 2 points 46 months ago

I would like to know about that blue matrix screen saver if you don't mind sharing?

CHERNO-B1LL 2 points 21 months ago

Just commenting for the MJ12 reference +1

Also is that three screens on their sides put together? The bevel is like three inches!!

Doc_Gore 2 Builds 1 point 67 months ago

FANTABULOUS build. Dat lighting is AWESOME Btw, I love you desktop background / wallpaper.

flipins 3 Builds 1 point 67 months ago

That is pretty amazing looking.

Genarus 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

Nice build. You got plans for that big PSU?

btuazon submitter 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

Yup. Depending on the next line of AMD cards, I may or may not crossfire with 7970s. Eventually I will put waterblocks on the GPU's too, but unfortunately this card is non reference.

Genarus 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

Nice that answers my question. Great job on the build again

Dave_6 2 Builds 1 point 67 months ago

Holy crap! Amazing build! :O

Papajenkinz 1 point 67 months ago

nice and cool

SparkyOnPC 1 point 67 months ago

wait, where'd you get the cover thing for the MOBO? are there any other models? (MSI g45 gaming mobo) (z77)

tinyjosh1991 2 points 67 months ago

that is the thermal armor that comes with the MOBO. I'm pretty sure it is only for that specific MOBO.

SparkyOnPC 1 point 67 months ago

aw, how much was it?

DoHbOyBlAzEd 20 Builds 1 point 67 months ago

It only comes with the Sabertooth motherboard

SrgtMacfly 1 point 67 months ago

the Z87 gryphon has a seperate armor kit for it, specific for the gryphon though

btuazon submitter 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

It only comes on the TUF series of boards. Sabertooth and gryphon. Although, I dont see it for the Sabertooth X79 board. It comes all black, so I painted it, along with the X-shaped cover for the Raystorm CPU block. Mine is around $235 right now I think.

onlinefreak 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

Oh man, what a beautiful build! Did you paint all those parts? If yes, what paint did you use?

btuazon submitter 1 Build 3 points 67 months ago

Yes I painted the motherboard cover, radiator and CPU cover. The GPU and PSU I covered in matte white vinyl.

onlinefreak 1 Build 0 points 67 months ago

That's awesome, what type/brand paint did you use?

btuazon submitter 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

I just used flat white rustoleum spray paint.

lwcdnet 3 points 62 months ago

Any concern that the painted surfaces on components are negatively impacting heat retention? Am under the impression that 85 degrees Celsius is getting on the high side?

Incredible looking build though! Wow...

btuazon submitter 1 Build 1 point 59 months ago

NO it doesnt. And 85 degrees is under full load of P95. so its not that hot.

18hockey 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

Em hmm, dat color scheme. Love it!

MrHallows 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

Dude, this thing is gorgeous! Nice job! I can feel the envy setting in.. @_@

stnz 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

AMAZING.

Papajenkinz 1 point 67 months ago

Very, very nice setup. I must ask, why not put your monitors, they way most people do? :)

btuazon submitter 1 Build 2 points 67 months ago

I don't like a landscape layout. I never really play games that would use them, like racing games. I know some people like it for FPS games, but I find the FOV makes everything look really weird. Plus, this is like having a huge, high resolution monitor.

Hatupatu 1 point 67 months ago

Beautiful build! Did you do your own sleeving? Thanks for sharing.

btuazon submitter 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

No. I thought about it, but the amount of work and time that I don't really have, I decided to just buy. I really only wanted white ones and these fit the bill perfectly.

XIscottyIX 3 Builds 1 point 67 months ago

I would do terrible things to get my hands on this build!!

xHiZoR 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

i hit 85 Celcius running at 4.6 Mhz on my i5-4670k while running prime95 :(

btuazon submitter 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

What are you cooling with? Vcore?

xHiZoR 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

im using a h100i and around 1.350

btuazon submitter 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

Wow. Thats a pretty high voltage... As long as you arent getting that hot in any real world stuff, you should be ok though...

xHiZoR 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

yeahh lol. but someone told me that intel said its safe to around 1.45 ish but its gonna kill it faster. i just lowered it to 1.29 at 4.5 GHz because i hd to be on manual volt at 4.6 i couldnt get offset to work. i dont think its working for me at 4.5 though

SamDaPwner 1 point 67 months ago

What tubing is that?

btuazon submitter 1 Build 2 points 67 months ago

XSPC FLX Premium Grade PVC Tubing - White.

I was wondering why in the hell this had so many upvotes so I clicked and immediately understood! This is by far the best build/setup I have seen, I love it.

+1 and obviously more if I could.

Edit: I looked at this again... so jealous. Haha

Pom451 2 Builds 1 point 67 months ago

A little to much white for my taste, but you still did a fantastic job on this build.

onyxv 1 point 67 months ago

What type of paint did you use on that motherboard? I'm getting that one next week and wanted to know beforehand since that looks so beyond epic! FANTASTIC BUILD!

btuazon submitter 1 Build 2 points 67 months ago

I just used flat white rustoleum spray paint.

onyxv 1 point 67 months ago

and what about the black lines? did you use a sharpie or one of those gundam markers?

SamDaPwner 1 point 67 months ago

How Are you Liking That Kit? I was Thinkin of getting it...by the way how did you paint the TA?

btuazon submitter 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

I love it so far. no complaints. I just used flat white rustoleum spray paint, white covering some things with tape that I wanted to stay black. Then I used an exacto knife to shave off the lines.

Goobitaga 1 point 67 months ago

This guy knows how to color scheme!

pako 1 point 67 months ago

Sick build. How exactly did you get the CPU cooler to be white? I really want to do something like that with the whole completely white colour scheme, but I can't find any liquid cooling systems for CPUs that are white.

ArrKayCee 3 Builds 1 point 66 months ago

OMG wow that looks amazing.

SwitchWaffle 1 point 66 months ago

What keyboard is that?

malcar11 4 Builds 1 point 66 months ago

Is almost perfect!!!! The color, the hard work. Sooo clean and beautiful. In my opinion, is pure art!!. The best looking build I've seen in a looong time! (maybe ever) If have the time, take a look at mine. Is not that pretty, but you can help me to make it look better. Congrats!

ArcticEditor 1 point 66 months ago

HOLY. CRAP. This is one of the cleanest builds I've ever seen! o_o Amazing job!

mailr0425 1 point 65 months ago

THE best cable management and cleanest build I've EVER seen!

JosiahC 1 Build 1 point 65 months ago

What type of spray paint did you use for the mobo cover?

bloodamir80 1 Build 1 point 65 months ago

white...

Gooberdad 10 Builds 1 point 65 months ago

Wow I don't care how much it cost, or what it didn't. That is an amazing paint job. I love that transformation of the sabertooth, video card, and PSU covers. I am truly inspired and in awe of the glow and seamless look of the guts of this baby. I was looking for the highest rated stuff and wandered over here. I thought "What is all the fuss over?" Now I see. Way to go.

XplosiveCows 1 point 65 months ago

It would be terrible, if a black sharpie were to touch it...... :)

winstonofwar 1 Build 1 point 64 months ago

it's gorgeous!

swaggernaut 1 Build 1 point 64 months ago

what happens when u need to upgrade. lol

Gary85739 1 point 64 months ago

Interesting build, thank you!

btw, how do you find the H20 cooler? Is it all you'd hoped for? Is it quiet? NICE CASE!! Such a CLEAN build, you inspire us.

btuazon submitter 1 Build 1 point 59 months ago

The cooler has been great. I found that I am hitting the voltage limit of the CPU before i can hit my cooling limit

deghedy 1 point 64 months ago

You sir are an artist. Amazing job.

Maxor_The_Grand 1 point 64 months ago

it's like a mac BUT ACTUALLY FREEKIN AWSOME

Anthozoa 1 point 64 months ago

Is that a damn dime?

HD7ames 1 Build 1 point 64 months ago

Wait what!!!!???? +2

EmperorPhoenix 1 point 64 months ago

If I'm right, the new AMD GPUs have hardware frame pacing, which apparently helps with the eyefinity stutters... I'm not use if this is correct, so it might be worth doing some research, but that should help.

Nice build BTW, looks pretty sweet! I've always loved the Phantom cases from NZXT.

algoz1257 1 point 64 months ago

The whitest thing ever! :O

wheelerj 1 point 64 months ago

Icy White!!! What a clean build. i love the white inerds with the blue glow.

IceMetal 1 point 62 months ago

Looks uuuuuhhhhh-mazing...thats sex for the eyes lol

ReiuhoThunderfury 1 point 62 months ago

I love it. I love the black and white builds. I love the saber tooth mobo I am prob gettin that for my first pc. But here's my question. Did you take off the tuf armor and paint it , or did you find a replacement? if you did find a replacement, where at? Thanks.

btuazon submitter 1 Build 1 point 59 months ago

I took it off to paint. its really easy.

Supernova097 1 point 62 months ago

might sound like a dumb question, but does windows 8.1 work on the z87 sabertooth?

tbrezniak 1 point 62 months ago

what did you use to paint your motherboard and graphics card?

btuazon submitter 1 Build 1 point 59 months ago

Just flat white spray paint on the motherboard armor. Vinyl wrap on the video card.

Silent_Assassin 1 Build 1 point 62 months ago

ghostroaster5 1 point 61 months ago

Smexiest build I've ever seen. 'Nuff said. +1

Killeneminem 3 Builds 1 point 61 months ago

This might be a silly question, but does anyone know how to get a motherboard cover thing like that? Did he paint the TUF armor?

btuazon submitter 1 Build 1 point 59 months ago

Yes, I used spray paint.

sassas1 1 Build 1 point 61 months ago

I'm surprised I haven't noticed this build sooner. It looks fantastic - unlike anything I've seen in awhile. I remember back in the day when computer fanatics took exterior design to the next level when it came to components and the case itself, haha.

A bit about that PSU - Though people are saying it's too much, it's good to have in case you want to upgrade anything on your rig, be it the GPU... uh... or the GPU (chuck a second one in there, anything works haha). However very, very, very nice build. Worth the time put into making it, I'm sure.

boofheadfred 1 Build 1 point 60 months ago

I welcome your GF to the master race :) +1!

messilive19 1 point 60 months ago

You paid only 955.30 USD ? That seems so strange for all those great items...

How loud is that pump res combo? Nice build!

epicpcgamer 1 Build 1 point 59 months ago

This is AMAZING!

gregkolodny 1 point 59 months ago

I love this build. Fantastic work with cable management, color scheme, choice of parts. Also, nice job modding the case, this somehow improved an already beautiful case. Have you considered doing this part time?

cst1992 1 point 59 months ago

Hi, was the keyboard originally white or you painted that as well? I can't find an image of a white keyboard of that model.

azhua0718 1 point 59 months ago

that charging port on the bottom is awesome! how did u do it?

Phunk 1 point 59 months ago

It is incredible that you put so much effort into making such a great-looking build, you might have even inspired me to do the same, but in black.

Aenast 1 Build 1 point 58 months ago

The wire management alone was enough to make me +1 it. Fabulous job, remarkable machine.

Gu3 1 Build 1 point 58 months ago

Amazing Build.

Count me in the large group of people envious of your skill!

ThePCguy2013 1 point 58 months ago

I have a dream.... that one day I will be able to build a computer like that.

MetaApex 1 point 58 months ago

I didn't know monitors with that aspect ratio even existed...

Hunter1254 1 Build 1 point 58 months ago

Looks amazing!!! Great job +1

cebiadem61 1 Build 1 point 57 months ago

Does This case come with the side window, or did you add that?

WindeezKC 1 Build 1 point 57 months ago

What did you use to Paint the Armor on that?

Ceres2 1 point 56 months ago

Love the modern white! Hell, even futuristic.

Hazarded 1 point 56 months ago

How is the vengeance ram for you?

Gshep71 1 Build 1 point 56 months ago

White is definitely the new black these days and this build is a perfect example.

obrienjordan41 1 point 55 months ago

Very nice build, but how come the photos show a cpu cooler but it's not on the parts list?

obrienjordan41 1 point 55 months ago

2 questions: is Sabertooth the only mobo w/ that protective cover? And your cpu cooling tubes are white, where or how can i find different color tubing for my cpu cooler?

btuazon submitter 1 Build 2 points 51 months ago

Yes. and yes. I believe i got this tubing from FrozenPC.

KristennHahnn 1 Build 1 point 55 months ago

OMG! This thing is beautiful! I might have to copy you, Haha. I would class it as a work of art! Made me shed a tear.

Lukeofett 1 point 55 months ago

Whoa, props to you. Great colour scheme, cable management and decent parta!

playdough123 1 point 54 months ago

revolverlover 2 Builds 1 point 53 months ago

how did you make it all white?

CR@ZY3DDIE 1 point 53 months ago

I would've spent less money on the motherboard and bought an i7, but than again an i7 might have been overkill.

Veizin 2 Builds 1 point 50 months ago

What's the tiny fan next to the CPU for?

NeonAssassin 2 points 23 months ago

Necro'ing I know, but its a dust fan, the sabertooth line comes with a 40mm and 35mm. One is under the cpu and the other is hidden just behind a tiny vent on the IO port of the mobo.

Gnarlyman 1 point 50 months ago

did you custom paint any of those parts?

CrunchyStorm 1 Build 1 point 50 months ago

Gorgeous build sir.

Danlazer 1 point 46 months ago

Umm does this get extremely hot? xD

Zackerydato 1 point 46 months ago

I'm guessing you like white

CSGO.USP-S.HeadshotMachine 1 point 46 months ago

Can it run CS:GO On All Max Settings at 255-300 fps? If not what fps does it run at medium?

Vdub547 1 point 45 months ago

Ok, I think I'm going to build this pc. It is the god of pc's with that artic white. Things I would change: I would probably throw in 16gb of RAM, the white vengeance of course, I might go with an i5 5th gen now that they have them, I would go with NZXT's white PSU so I don't have to spray paint one, and I might go with one of Asus's white Nvidia graphics cards. Other than that, this is a sweet build and it is still nice the way it is now, this is just what I would do to in for my preference. BTW, Love that Ducky keyboard.

pilottroll 1 point 44 months ago

what do you use to color all your components?

bludress23 1 point 44 months ago

man that gpu temp though

Tomahok 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

Love the build by the way.

I wonder what the total price of this build is, I've tried finding the pricing for the components on this website, but they don't seem to exist... can someone help me on that...?

GarlicDude 1 point 34 months ago

Did you custom paint the parts?

Rakoonie 1 point 29 months ago

will this build work with the Corsair 760T Graphite Series case?

w.zhang 1 point 29 months ago

shocked XD

Shadowriser609 1 point 27 months ago

dude how did you paint all of that stuff?

cberkley96 1 point 27 months ago

85c is kinda high on watercooling, even with an overclock. did you paint that radiator aswell? if so that might be your main issue there. the paint might be preventing the radiator from passing the heat off of the fins. not trying to criticize, as it is an amazing build. just trying to help! :)

duckbit 1 point 19 months ago

How much for you to build this setup again but for me? I will happily pay for labour! (obvs also parts)

RYANP23 1 point 17 months ago

I will build it for you. Which build though? I'm charging $40 labor

Jamestucker 1 point 19 months ago

Hey, don't know if you'll respond to this because I'm so late but do you know if you could help me with building this thing, like link a video or something because I know nothing about computers and don't know how to build one and I'd like this to be my first build. Thanks anyway if you do or do not respond.

RYANP23 1 point 14 months ago

Sure! Sorry for this super late response https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1Q8ksRI1Eo

RYANP23 1 point 14 months ago

Most certainly

scots_ 1 point 14 months ago

Is it possible to get a cheaper power supply to shave off a couple hundred dollars off of this build if were on a tighter budget?

RYANP23 1 point 14 months ago

Sure

Souschef1984 1 point 13 months ago

Beautiful build, but OMG the CPU heat would burn up the chip in less than a month

Very nice white build!

+1

Brcool 1 point 12 months ago

How well would it run Fortnite? High and how many fps?

ShekkelStein 1 point 11 months ago

Good build you'll need to overclock the gpu to 110% for the bottleneck to go away other than that great build.

That SSD mount is pretty cool too. SSD on a drive rack tied to the case. Very creative thinking.

Thanks! It actually is screwed in. I was somehow able to match up the holes with the ODD mounting holes.

I had to come back and find this build because i'm about to do the same thing when i get my case today. Thanks for the idea.

sawweeeeeeeeet the only thing that would top this all off would be white LED lights inside IMO, but if you dont id still give this a 10

btuazon submitter 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

I have the NZXT Hue, and most of the time I have it set to white light. I may replace the LEDs in the cpu block to white too.

Did you make this account to troll people? Seems so as both the comments I've seen from you are negative or trying to put people down.

btuazon submitter 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

What did it say?

RyneSmith 7 Builds 3 points 67 months ago

Don't worry about it, some moron begging for attention.

Antoine3990 3 Builds 1 point 67 months ago

Actually, it wasn't false.. 1200W is WAY to much.

Just upgraded to a 780ti! Not HOF though.... :(

cst1992 1 point 59 months ago

Its colour is silvery, I think it would not have suited your build. Which 780Ti have you got? Are you going to paint it too?

The HOF edition by itself looks very beautiful.

Awesome job painting all your parts. It looks excellent.
