Description

I was finally able to get some time and redo a custom build for a fellow employee. We upgraded from a 290X to a 980ti/redid the water loop/ and swapped cases into the beautiful matte black H440. We used hard line tubing to show off the cooling and maintain the cases clean look. I also removed the motherboard heat sinks and painted them blue instead of red for the builds theme. For a final touch I also went with a gloss black Geforce Claw to pop off of the matte black case.

Thank you for viewing this build, you guys are the best.

I could look at that blue water all day.

Nice choice on CPU, GPU, and PSU - all set up for a 2nd 980 if you decide to get one.

Masterpiece.

The lighting on the RAM sticks looks very very cool indeed.

And I would never have them in my machine.

In order to achieve such effects, you need very high voltages to excite the gas in the tube and form a plasma. That means there's a TON of electrical noise right next to the DRAM chips (and not far from the CPU as well). Unless the tubes and their power supplies are very well shielded against EMI (and the pictures on their Web site don't convince me of this), that noise is going to negatively affect the operation of the DRAMs.

I'd be interested in hearing how Avexir have mitigated against this. But unless I got a very convincing explanation, I would run MemTest86 on these things for about a week straight before putting them to use on any real work. And even then I don't think I'd really trust them.

If they were offered in ECC flavors, I might consider it.

It's a shame, because they look damned amazing...

10/10 One of my favorites I have seen on this site, and I do not usually like blue. Fantastic color balance in there. It manages to look futuristic but not gaudy.

Thanks man, yea it allows for more hard drives to be mounted and better ventilation. The video card is water cooled so the blower doesn't affect it at all.
