This has been the most fun I ever had building a computer. I've built about a dozen computers over the past 10 years. Yet this 3 Mother Board, 16 GPU mining rig is by far the most fun build to date; open air, zip ties, easy cable management leads to a simple, clean and fun build. Just planning and string up 16 GPU configuration is fun on itself.
Do to electrical supply issues (my wall outlets can only handle so many watts and amps), I decided to split 16 1070 ti GPU across three mother boards, running them to different breakers (outlets).
Windows 10 OS gave me issues on two of the boards, which kept crashing. So I ended up backing up to Windows 7 and found it more stable under load. Which is weird because one of the Asus Prime Z270-P boards loves W10 and the other would freeze up. So one is running W10 and the Asrock H81 and the other Asus Prime are running W7. And all three are stable and working just fine.
4mgs of DDR 4 ram are working fine on the Asus boards. I put 8mgs of DDR 3 ram on the Asrock H81 because I have it laying around from old unused parts.
Luckily I bought the 1070 TIs at a good time before they ran up in price and/or have all but vanished from the market. I feel for the Gamers looking for GPUs. I need one for gaming too, but mining is just too much fun, so my gaming upgrade has to wait :(
Meanwhile, Snow White is hard at work mining 3 or 4 different coins and keeping the house warm (that's no joke - that thing pushes heat out big time!)
Great for an DDR3 build
Picky board, but once it's setup, it's fine.
Good old DDR3
Between the G2 and the G3, I like the G2 better, but it's bigger
