Description

Hi! This is my first build with a budget of $700. I primarily use for school and light to moderate gaming.

Pls give me suggestions or advice.

Sry for sideways pictures. Took them with my phone so bad quality

You can get fx 6300 for the same price. A decent 970 board that can run sli/xfire for the same or less. A 7850-7870 for a couple more bucks with 8-10 dollar coupon codes. Not alot of difference between blue and black drives really.

Still a nice build.

Nice. But you don't need thermal compound if you're not buying a cpu cooler (you should only buy one if you plan to OC your CPU). Also, Western Digital has a 1TB drive for even cheaper: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd10ezex

Well it's too late now though. Still a good budget build tho, enjoy.

yeah i made a HDD mistake. I didnt know that i couldve gotten a WD black drive 1TB for like 10 bucks more lol. I wanted to buy thermal paste because i heard the stock TIMs are thick

A bit too late, but you probably could have gone with a Radeon 7850 for less than that on Newegg if you did the mail in rebate. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-r7850twinfrozr2gd5oc

You should have gone AMD with this sort of budget... but otherwise not too bad.

idk i just dont like the stock heatsinks for AMD and i would have to get a aftermarket cooler for like 30 bucks

Yeah... I built this computer like a month ago. Since it's close to Black Friday, i just regret building this computer in October. I was going to wait till Black Friday... I just got impatient. Stupid me LOL

How is $700 'budget' that's alot of money

I was going for a $1000 build but my parents said it was too expensive, so this was kind of like a budget to me

What made you choose intel over amd for this budget build?

  • 1 point

idk i might decide to upgrade later to a better GPU and still not get bottlenecked that badly.

  • 1 point

you could have gotten much better for the price but it is still pretty decent. that gpu isn't going to last you very long though.

An AMD CPU probably would have better suited this budget, still a great build though.

Like what AMD cpu specifically??

perhaps a 6300?

Nicely done! :) It should definitely be able to handle school & moderate gaming. As others have pointed out, you could have done some things differently, but overall I think you did fine :)

Also, don't beat yourself up about missing out on deals - Black Friday or not, there are always deals and always deals to miss out on. It's the nature of our pursuit :D
