Description

This is a gaming computer I built for my better half. I was originally going to build her an all white computer but I ended up buying the mother board, processor, RAM, CPU cooler, keyboard and power supply off of Craigslist; which I think I got a killer deal on the items and ended up with better parts than I had originally planned.

I'll be adding more updated pictures soon with close ups on how I dealt with the long LED strip.

Part Reviews

CPU

Purchased on Craigslist as a packaged deal. $450 for the processor, mother board, liquid cooling and 16gb RAM.

CPU Cooler

Purchased on Craigslist as a packaged deal. $450 for the processor, mother board, liquid cooling and 16gb RAM.

Motherboard

Purchased on Craigslist as a packaged deal. $450 for the processor, mother board, liquid cooling and 16gb RAM.

Memory

Purchased on Craigslist as a packaged deal. $450 for the processor, mother board, liquid cooling and 16gb RAM.

Storage

Great M.2, especially for the price.

Video Card

I pulled this out of my computer since I upgraded to a Gigabyte G1 GTX 1070

Case

I now love this case over the NZXT S340. Easier to build in and the build quality is so much better.

Power Supply

TOTAL overkill for this build but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on Craigslist. Bought this and the Logitech G710+ for $140. Also, because this PSU is longer than usual, it was kind of tough installing into this Phanteks case.

Keyboard

Not actually using this keyboard. Just couldn't pass up the deal I got on it.

Custom

This either needs a ton more magnets, or just simply be made out of a rubber coating that 2-sided tape can stick to. OR they need to make new stips for the Phanteks ECLIPSE case since the Luxe case is bigger and this 1M strip is too long and way too wide.

Custom

I've used these before and ordered them thinking I was going to use them. I instead connected the 3 case fans to fan controller.

Is craigslist reliable?

I like Ebae more. They have that guarantee thing that favors the buyer.

It can be sketchy at times if you don't know what you're doing. I did go to the seller's house to check out the parts he was selling because they were still installed in his computer which made it easy for me to make sure all of the parts worked. He even let me remove the parts myself from his case.

That special someone?

Is it me :)

Lol, I like the build. That is an amazing case. I think those strips have been updated with magnets, or there is another strip by Phanteks.

Its good but really expensive, I would go for a cheaper one and invest the money into the other parts.

I really like the motherboard. It was a bit of an overkill for what I had originally planned for this computer. In the end, I would have wished it was the Maximus VIII Hero Alpha instead which has RGB LED headers on the board.

Is it possible to fix the H100i's radiator to the top in this case ? Nice build +1 _^

I wish I could have but once you install the radiator plus the fans, it's too close the motherboard. Maybe with a different motherboard it could be possible.
