Description

Mainly gaming. I've been looking to build a new PC for awhile. I do have a laptop that I use for gaming when I'm away from home (ASUS ROG GL552VW). While I love having the laptop, I wanted something at home that I can use for gaming along with work if I have to. The original PC that I had did me well for many years from 2006. However, due to a lightning storm two weeks into my rental home years ago that computer never fully recovered.

Any questions? Ask away.

Part Reviews

CPU

I wanted something that will do me for quite some time. The 1600x just kept screaming at me when I was preparing for my build. I'm solid at 4GHz.

CPU Cooler

Some people say it's overkill but I've never been the one to settle for "This is all you need." when it comes to the PC World. The temps are running fine and keep the CPU REALLLY REALLLLY cool. I wanted to also have a little bit of RGB in my case so this was one of the selling points.

Memory

Another piece that I wanted due to RGB plus for the speed. The RAM runs flawlessly at 3200mhz. G.Skill has put out another version of the RAM that is designed specifically for Ryzen builds. Grab it if you can.

Storage

Stores Windows and a couple of my games. Will be adding another one in the near future. Currently have a 1TB HDD for my other games and storage.

Video Card

I originally had a 1050Ti in this build for almost a year and was wanting to cap the build off with a 1080Ti. However, due to the bitcoin/mining phase that stopped those plans. Ended up going with a 2070 and don't regret it one single bit. Right out of the box I did play my games and was great on Ultra settings @ 1440p. As time goes on and I get familiar with the card I will overclock it. It can beat out quite a few games for 1080Ti so we'll work towards that.

Case

Flawless case. Great ways to make the case clean and not have to worry about wires in your display side of the case. I chose this version to KINDA go cheaper but if you're able to go with the Elite version...by all means do it.

Monitor

Very great monitor and couldn't beat the price that I bought it for. Very great for 2K resolution and very solid for gaming. I tweaked the color settings after a little while of having it but it's even great out of the box. Definitely worth it if you can grab one.

Awesome build! How are your temps at 4ghz with the 280mm rad?

Under heavy load, I'm hitting around 60-65 celsius with 1440p gameplay. The highest it has hit with Prime95 has been 75. On a normal (just browsing the internet) I'm maybe pushing 25-30 celsius.

Nice build. Why the 1600X and Kraken? Could have saved on those 2 parts and bought an X470 and 2700/2700X. Unless this is an older build that has been upgraded over time?

the performance difference between a 1600x and a 2700/2700x in high resolution gaming won't be very big, and you will get more overclocking with this board and an aio than an x470 board and a stock cooler. Also, I guarantee this is wayy quieter.

First build I've done in awhile. I planned on grabbing a Ryzen when I started putting together and first purchase I made to initially start this up was the 1600x. I ended up going with the Kraken because with the B350-F mobo, I'm a tweaker at heart BUT not wanting to where I wanted to go fully out and potentially damage computer parts. Plus I liked the RGB aspect of it aswell over the Wraith cooler.
