Description

FIRST BUILD EVER.....Build it for a video editing machine and gamer rig. Built it with my son and we had a fun time doing it. It was a lot of research to figure if everything worked together or not. After about 2 weeks of research we came up with this. It's a monster overkill for games, but my son loves the PC games and good graphics...so it fit his bill for a gaming PC. This thing edits videos so fast it's unreal. I came from a Dell laptop running XP, and this thing smokes on rendering videos, blew me away how much faster it was. We pushed the CPU to 4.2 Ghz and the fans and water cooling keep it cool. We got everything together and it did POST right away. Loaded windows 8.1 and never a glitch. I am still learning all the bench mark stuff so I haven't got all the numbers yet, plus now my son doesn't want to get off the darn thing for me to test it.... Also plan on running RAMDISK for editing videos...hence the 64GB of ram

what in sam hell do you need 9tb of storage for :p good build thats for sure, but at that budget it couldve had a much, much better bang for your buck ratio

I actually have 12TB storage. I already had other hard drives I didn't need to order. This is a video editing machine so I needed lots of storage because I shoot a lot of video and have it in hi-res. Put a 4K video on a hard drive and it gets ate up fast

The ~200mm fan on your H100i intrigues me. You've got your CPU temps up, but I'd be curious how that compares to the ambient temperatures of the room it's in. Why did you set it up that way?

I almost coughed up blood looking at this parts list and then reading "overkill for gaming". I then proceeded to try to force the blood back down after looking at the price tag.

Overkill indeed. Enjoy it though!

Also, if you think 2 weeks research is a lot, i pondered mine for 3 months.

If you think 3 months is a lot, I waited and thought about it for 5 months (July-November)

Well I should add those 2 weeks were 2 weeks I took off and I did nothing but watch videos and read over forums and reviews till my eyes bled....16 hours a day...no joke either....that is 224 HRs of research

9TB of hard drive space... I don't know how many games or videos you have but I really think that you could've gotten 6TB instead and a 780 for that price. Just a suggestion, nice build!
