Lian-Li PC-Y6 aka The Yacht

by SecurityTool

My dad saw this case and wanted to do a build in it, so here we go. This is the only PC on pcpartpicker to put a full length GTX 1080Ti inside of a Lian-Li PC-Y6. The case specifies a GPU length of no longer than 300mm but doesn't mention anything about the width. As you can see from the overhead pic, the PCIe riser offsets the GPU to one side of the case which makes it contact the aluminum. When it is not centered like this it prevented us from mounting the top half of the boat. We had to do a bit of case modding by cutting about 3/4" of the aluminum on that side to make the GPU fit.

The Lian-Li PSU is perfect for this build. The flat cables are easy to deal with and it is fully modular. Most of the cables are hidden in the hull of the boat.

The PC runs dead silent because the PSU and GPU fans don't even spin at idle. I set a fan profile in EVGA Precision to make the fans spin up and also use that software to control the RGB LEDs on the 1080 Ti. The case also has a controller to change the colors of three mounted RGB LED strips.

The motherboard has matching RGB LEDS and plenty of features. The SSD seems to stay cool despite being housed under the motherboard's heatsink.

Overall it was a pretty fun build and it came out looking great. Added a Corsair K95 Platinum keyboard and other matching peripherals.

What did you end up paying for that case

He clearly owns a yacht. If he knew how much it cost, he probably wouldn't be able to afford it.

Hey! I'm looking for a processor that is both good for productivity and gaming. I've been looking at the core i7-8700 and I haven't seen many people with it in a build. I like to design things with AutoCAD and Photoshop. Plus, I play games like Fortnite and Rocket League. My friend has a 8700k but it is a bit out of my price range. What do you think?
