Description

Tiān Dì, Heaven and Earth.

And with a name like that there is only one possible use for this PC. Gaming! Well O.K., it also does videos, music, and the Interweb pretty gud 2.

This is not a new build but a continuing saga.

All the pieces parts seem to work well together. At 1080p if I get 60fps I check to see whats wrong. Have the Max Frame Rate in game set to 120fps so the GPU keeps cool.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Part Reviews

CPU

My last CPU was a i5-4690k and the improvement is noticeable.

Motherboard

First MSI board and I'm quite impressed.

Storage

PNY seems to be very reliable.

Sound Card

Sounds great and the DTS seems to work better than the on board.

Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit Must say, good for gaming. It does seem a little intrusive with all the monitoring. I turned off as much as i could and have not introduced myself to Cortana. Nor have i signed up for a Microsoft Account. Microsoft is like a friend who wont go home. Thank you for the operating system MS, it works well, but you can go home now.

Best. Description. For. Microsoft. Ever. :D

Ok so the orange is great but with the red it seems lost. Now that it is white and red it looks fantastic. I am a huge orange fan but love symmetry so vote is for the white. As far as an excellent quality build you have my vote.

Thanks oneflygtiguy , I think the white was the right choice too. Storm-cooled the dragon is the MSI dragon and i got it from modsticker.com. ThinkWithPortals nothing wrong with a little obscurity now and then. ;-)

I believe he painted over the orange. Picture #7 is the completed build, with the awesome looking dragon on the water block.

I second this... First i saw the "Featured" photo, i thought was how the hell it got into featured list. Then a day later i clicked the link...

I looked at the first pic and was like...wait this is featured? But then I saw pic #6 and was like, Hell Yeah! +1 for the nice transformation of the build.

To be 100% honest I was wondering why this this a featured build at first since in the first picture the build honestly doesn't look good and thought the staff had a few screws loose. That is until I saw the last few pictures and wow it does look great. It went from fat kid to channing tatum. +1

I am not really sure what picture to look at here. Move picture #7 to the first so that is what shows up on the thumbnail. I LOVE that white, though. You definitely have my +1

It is a nice build and everything, but I think the corsair fans and heat sinks. I would get different fans and spray paint the heat sinks. None the less great build and it is fresh. :)

Another S340! These cases are awesome. I also see a lot of 6700k's around, but those processors are beasts.

Great looking build! It's cool to see someone unafraid to dive in and do some customization.

Thanks. It's not noticeable from the pics but I enlarged the PCIe power cable pass through to the basement so the cables would hang straight. Dremel rules!

Where do you buy asetek coolers? ( no rebranded ones like NZXT X31 or Corsair H55 )

I think the answer is, you don't, unless your a system manufacturer. ;-)

If you want to replace the side and front panels with glass, you might as well just get a corsair 460x. Check it out, it may be what you're looking for.

Just curious if you think 1 - 2 80mm fans on the back exhaust portion of the main compartment. I'm getting this case soon and was considering doing that if it's feasible. Would the slots line up with the fan holes?

Why do people keep using the 980 I mean you are getting less for your money. The 1080 is brand new and would crush this 980 without it being water cooled. The 980 also cost more then the 1080. here is the best 1080 I could find https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-CLASSIFIED-Graphics-08G-P4-6386-KR/dp/B01GAI64GO/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1478539427&sr=8-12&keywords=1080%2Bgraphics%2Bcard&th=1

If you want a cheaper option here is a 1070 that will still destroy this in benchmarks. https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-08G-P4-6173-KR/dp/B01GX5YWAO/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1478539629&sr=1-1&keywords=1070%2Bgraphics%2Bcard&th=1

Yeah I was wondering why the 980, then realized this was built a while ago. I bought a 1060 6 GB (basically 980 performance) for $209 from Jet. Pretty bouse GPU.

Nice transformation on this build.

yeah sorry wasn't hating the build just saying that you could get better performance for less money just sell the 980 and buy a 1070 if your going to do an update. Otherwise stay with what you have because from this graph if your not looking to break benchmarks your build is great good job getting featured. http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-980-vs-GeForce-GTX-1070

its Canadian dollars not american in Canada the 1080 is way more expensive than the 980 and i bet he does not play just more than 1080p no need for a gtx 1080

  • 2 points

Yeah but he could still get the 1070 for a lower price I just checked that.
