Description

Hey PCPP this is my first PC build that I have ever built and I am very happy that I went through with it.I mainly play a lot of CSGO, Killing Floor 2, and Rainbow Six Seige and this build fits with all of my needs. I went for a White/Black scheme for this build and I am very glad I chose that scheme. I found that building a PC was pretty easy and the only thing that was a pain in my *** was the cable management! My god I tried for 30 minutes on the cable management and got nowhere. So for the cable management it is pretty much a jungle back there and when I have the chance to buy myself some velcro straps I will spend some time tidying it up back there (ANY TIPS FOR CABLE MANAGEMENT?). I did have ONE issue when building this PC. When I built it and put everything in and installed windows, and starting downloading steam, anti-viruses, etc. I downloaded a Monitor for my components and almost had a heart attack when i saw that at IDLE my CPU was running at 91° C. I booted my pc down and check the wiring for my cpu cooler and everything was in its place. I called up Micro Center and asked them to help me out and well, to sum it up the pumps were completely Gg. So the next day me and my Dad drove down to Micro Center and got a replacement for my cooler. When I got home and reinstalled it (cleaned my cpu so don't worry) everything was completely fine. So asides from the inconveinence, after that I have been having an absolute blast with this thing! I used to have a Macbook Air (very disappointing I know) and to see how much better this can perform blows me away everyday. I am also helping a couple of my other friends build their own pc and I am actually gonna be building one a couple weeks from now for a friend so I will be posting that on here for you guys to observe. So all in all I absolutely loved it and I would do it again and again!

About Me: I am 14 years old of the time of posting this and I am an avid PC gamer. I like to play video games, play the guitar, and spend time with my doggo. As you can see from my username that I really like Nirvana. I also like David Gilmour, Ozzy Osbourne, Jimi Hendrix, King of Leon, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Pearl Jam, and Guns N' Roses. Well thats enough about me lets get right into it.

Items

Intel Core i5-6600K Honestly I love this thing. I haven't gotten the chance yet to overclock it, but I do though plan on OC this weekend. I would love to shoot for 4.3 Ghz

Corsair H100i V2

This thing is an absolute B E A S T! As you can see from my temps down below this thing keeps this baby running nice and cool and QUIET. Oh my god I cannot begin to say the performance of this thing it's just great and runs so smooth. Worth every single penny.

MSI Z170A KRAIT GAMING 3X

Just your average motherboard to be honest... BUT the colors is what i was really shooting for in purchasing this. I love the whole White/Black scheme. This mobo has all the LED's that notify you if something isn't receiving power and the BIOS is pretty good and is great for beginners and beyond.

Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB

I really don't know what to say about this, but it's a pretty good set of ram. I was originally gonna get some Corsair Vengeance RAM, but these were on sale at Micro Center so I just went for these instead.

Crucial MX300 275gb SSD

Man this thing is BLAZING fast!! I love this thing and I am so glad I bought it. My OS boots up in seconds and all my steam games boot up pretty fast.

1TB Hard Drive

Great value for your money Hard Drive period.

Asus GTX 1060 Strix

Ok so I originally was going to get a Gigabyte 1060, but opted for this instead and I do not regret purchasing this card! It works so well and runs pretty much all of my games on ultra setting at a stable 60 Fps!

NZXT H440

Love this case to DEATH! I was gonna get the black version of this but they were all out at Micro Center so I got this case and I absolutely love it! The white is so vibrant and I actually like it a lot better than the black IMO.

boldAsus VX238H

Love this monitor! The display is nice and I love it! Worth every penny!

Corsair Strafe RGB Cherry MX Silent

This keyboard is amazing and I honestly can't see myself using anything that isn't a mechanical keyboard for gaming.

Logitech G502

This mouse is awesome! It's so versatile and I would recommend this to ANYONE looking for a great mouse for gaming!

HyperX Cloud II

GREAT, and I mean GREAT headphones. I play a lot of CSGO and I can hear pretty much every little thing and I just absolutely adore the plush ear pads that come with it!!!

Part Reviews

CPU

Great CPU for any Skylake build!

CPU Cooler

Great CPU cooler! Keeps the temps cool and fans quiet!

Motherboard

Great Motherboard!

Storage

Blazing fast read and write speeds! Os boots in seconds and holds all my steam games!

Storage

Great value for your money hard drive Period.

Video Card

Great graphics card in general. I am giving it 4 stars because the AURA program doesn't have as many lighting options as I would want.

Case

Great case. Also it has padding on both side panels to keep it quieter.

Nice build! I'm 14 too and I'm planning to build a PC around may for my birthday, is it really worth water cooling the CPU?

well, it depends. If you are getting a NON overclockable cpu or locked cpu I don really suggest it. Now with me I have an unlocked cpu so whenever I decide to overclock it it will get significantly hotter so I will need liquid cooling for it to stay cool. Now if you are getting an unlocked cpu don bother with air just go liquid. Now if I wasn't getting an unlocked cpu I would still get a liquid cooler and heres why. It's an aesthetic preference. Personally I don't like a big bulky fan, I prefer a nice flat pump over my cpu regardless just becuase I like how it looks thats all. Honestly I can't give you a definite answer because I don't know what your build is, so if you can link it I can probably help guide you with a choice. But congrats on your pc, its great when you do it best feeling in the world.

I am aware I can't overclock on this board, I don't plan on overclocking, so I decided to not to spend an extra $50 on a z270. I chose the rx480 because I'm not gonna be playing games on 1440p or 4K, just 1080 ultra, which it does already. In the future I might change out the rx480 depending on the new Radeon cards coming out, I also hose the rx480 cause of dx12

I would downgrade the processor to the i5 6600K there is no significant difference between the two and you will save some money getting that. If I were you I would get a 1060 tbh performance wise it is better.

Watercooling can be dangerous, but you don't need it.

it can be but It rarely ever happens with leaks.

  • 1 point

It's still a risk that must be known.

Yes, but usually you can do a pre check to see if you are at the risk of a leakage. It's still a valid point
