Dude, sweet set-up. What the hell do you do to warrant that monstrosity, if you don't mind me asking? +100

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 21 points 2 months ago

Thank you I do allot of multitasking, Processing point clouds, dealing with a gazillion files. Is it warranted ? probably not. I have 6 1080p on my other PC and was on my way to get 3 40" 4k when my son convinced me "another 6 would be cool dad". Should have ignored him lol

OrbitalBuzzsaw 1 Build 8 points 2 months ago

Money? What's that? You mean these fire starters?

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 12 points 2 months ago

It was either this or a vacation. I opted for the Staycation :)

FezVlogs4 1 point 2 months ago

do much gaming??

SlimyPython -3 points 2 months ago

Never knew Vacations costed $17493 aud

hotrod54chevy 4 points 1 month ago

I don't think costed is a word.

ZedSamCat 7 points 2 months ago

A lot is an understatement

idunnofam 5 points 2 months ago

I'm wondering the same thing. 6 monitors... two 2080's... wat. Feed us, OP. Pls.

KegiMasters 13 points 2 months ago

+1 Red colored, communist, FN P90 loving, B rushing, winter air cooled, better than spetsnaz, epic gaming PC.

And I'm already out of words to describe this bad boy.

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 5 points 2 months ago

lol Priceless :) TY

Steelbawng 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Nailed it

beegs42 9 points 2 months ago

Can it run Tetris though?

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 16 points 2 months ago

yes, minecraft on the other hand

n00bca1e99 1 Build 9 points 2 months ago

Can it run Task Manager?

nonoesimposible 7 points 2 months ago

What are you talking about? This couldn't run task manager on lowest settings at 480p.

AhodShralpy 10 Builds 4 points 2 months ago

i can't seem to get gsync to work on task manager in windowed mode

nonoesimposible 2 points 2 months ago

Did you try rebooting?

Nater650 -1 points 1 month ago

Yes, any computer can run Task manager. If you have a runaway process and you can’t kill it because you can’t run Task Manager, then you’re screwed

Rw05 8 points 19 days ago

HaloLegend98 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

I love the blackout curtain in the background even though you're in a basement (I'm guessing based on the studs in the ceiling on the last photo).

Solid setup. I actually went 'holy ****' when I opened PCpartpicker, because your build was featured. My gf ran into the room cause she thought something went wrong.

Cheers

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

LOL too cute, Thanks !!

z0d14rk 1 point 2 months ago

Same here caught interest when I saw point clouds, that's the dream set up right there I need to save up bit more though and flip my old rig.

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 3 points 2 months ago

Started with 2080 ultras because the TIs were impossible to find, 3 days into the build I found a couple 2080TI ultras, and the Raith cooler.

legendarypoet 13 Builds 3 points 2 months ago

Yeah... that Wraith cooler was annoying. Should have been out in August and I only found one recently after both TR builds were done. Won't even try for dual 2080 Tis til Feb.

Nice setup btw!

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

Its definitely an "In your face" cooler lol but out of all the air coolers I could get my paws on it looked like the one to have

Nodsense 2 Builds 3 points 2 months ago

Mic dropped....

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

lol Thanks

xSanchez78 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

Hey out of curiosity, can you explain how you've connected all 6 monitors? Did you connect them all to one card with DisplayPort MST hubs, or did you connect three to each card. If you did connect two both cards, how does that work when you play a game across all 6 screens?

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

I connected 3 to each card. SLI only supports 5. If I game on multi monitors. I sli and span the bottom 3.

xSanchez78 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Ah I see. I was wondering because if you actually did play on all screens, if that actually worked or not but nvm

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Yes it will play games on all six, just not in SLI. The bezels are annoying though. If I was going to strictly game it would be better to have maybe 3 comparable 40" monitors which you could get for around the same price as these 6 and the stand.

mbaker1992 2 points 2 months ago

All i can say is wowwwwww.. absolutely ridiculous build !! +1

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 3 points 2 months ago

Thank you. It helps when I am in the middle of something frustrating and I glance over and just grin :p

Nater650 2 points 2 months ago

Also RIP your electricity bill due to how power hungry this monstrosity of a PC is at full load

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 4 points 2 months ago

Lol, that's what my mom said about gas when I bought my car

PcMaster4k 2 points 2 months ago

quick question: what do u do with that setup and how tf u got the dough??!!

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

A bunch of multitasking, Processing point clouds, moving files around, Cad ect.. Chose to build this instead of going on vacation this year

PcMaster4k 2 points 2 months ago

ahhh ok then

anoobbuilder 2 points 2 months ago

thats not a pc its stuff u threw together and that stuff is EXPENSIVE but gotta give it to u ur a legend for buildin that

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

Thank you Yea, it ended up a tad overkill. Just waiting on a few fittings now to finish the loops.

Jushi 2 points 2 months ago

I'm not kidding this almost gave me a heart attack.

bre1979 1 point 2 months ago

what keypad is that in pic #3

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Its an old Razer Orbweaver

bre1979 1 point 2 months ago

okay, looking to get something to use with LSPDFR

wirclickwir 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Super jealous, especially of all the Samsung solid state storage and dual RTX 2080 Tis. The six 4K monitor setup is deliciously decadent like the rest of the build, but with a 2080 Ti SLI, have you considered going with higher refresh rates?

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I am waiting for Nvidia to realease their BFG display 65" 4k 120

Nathan_toast 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Holy moly how much fps you get on minecraft? just kidding this is amazing good job

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thanks :)

sega446 1 point 2 months ago

why do you put your keyboard infront of your window?

beardedmisfit 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

Holy Hell. Great build man +1 I don't know how you afford this lol but kudos!

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

Thank you :)

DazzCee 1 point 2 months ago

I wish id tried harder at school...

Slash766 1 point 2 months ago

why

DazzCee 1 point 2 months ago

So i could just pop online, put a £8000 PC together, then start planning the next system before windows has finished or before all 3 of my 1TB NVME drives are full. Thats why lol.

Kamnur 1 point 2 months ago

Vegitas 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

Well this is what you get then you dont have where to put money :D But nice dude :)))

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

Was looking for a balance between gaming and multitasking with a dash of overkill

ZFGeek 2 points 2 months ago

A 'dash' of overkill?!?! More like 'completely overkill i Can do anything' build! Honestly, though, who has nearly 10k to build a pc like that? I bet Windows is buttery smooth! :D Have you benchmarked it at all yet?

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

close to 20g here. I'm still in the middle of building it, just waiting on the water blocks. The only quick BM I ran was 3DMark TimeSpy Extreme Scored a not too bad 12113

ZFGeek 2 points 2 months ago

Once optimized, with that build you could compete on the 3DMark leaderboards! (if you care about that) Especially with watercooling...

I love it, excellent feature!

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thank you :)

Camranatic101 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

So do you have a space heater now? Plans to watercool (not if but what's your layout plan) ?

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Surprisingly not that bad with the open case. I am going to do a dual loop with 4 rads ( I know its not as efficient) 16mm tubing 120 fans. hopefully this postal dispute thing ends and the stuff will show up.

reidasaurusrex 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I saw in one of the pictures that you have the mini Razer keyboard. Do you like it? And also what purpose does it serve in your setup if you aren't really a gamer?

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

It's an old orb from years ago I thought I would try out when my son wanted me to game with him, didn't help lol

reidasaurusrex 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I figured it wasn't the most well designed peripheral. Nice build Btw!

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Agreed Thank you :)

ImNotYourAura 1 point 2 months ago

I wish I could have this... but I haven't even got enough money to buy a "cheap laptop" off of eBay.

+1

himynameissanta 1 point 2 months ago

THAT`S A LOT OF MONEY(ʘ ͜ʖʘ)

HaloLegend98 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I'd estimate near $10k.

The SSDs, mobo, and cpu aren't included in the price.

The SSDs alone are almost $4k

AhodShralpy 10 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

4x 120mm radiators? I don't think that'll really be great for cooling the parts in your system.

Do you mean 4x 420mm radiators?

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

Yes 2 loops of 1 400ml reservoir running through 2 120mm Radiators. I'm aware its not as efficient as running through the 420. If I do run into temp problems I have a 420 and fans I can always put on. Aesthetics is the only reason I am trying the 120s.

EliteL0jik 1 point 2 months ago

Ehhh.... Its ok

How is it hard-tubing the P90?

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Haven't attempted it yet, waiting on the water blocks.

xconnor 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

but can it run (insert really basic game/program here)?

all jokes aside this is an excellent build and i think overkill is a bit of an understatement. you won't need another pc in a long time. congrats on the feature!

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thank you :)

IngeniousTinkerer 1 point 2 months ago

The question is not, "What do you do in your spare time?" It's, "What do you not do?"

daUnitedpotato 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I really like how different that case is. Showcase all of the parts. Great powerhouse of a build :)

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thank you, I wasn't sure at first but once I got into it I'm loving this case

Sniperwolf7721 1 point 2 months ago

That cooler tho ಠ_ಠ. Crazy build...

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Of all the coolers i could find it seemed like the the best one.

AnonymouslyQuacked 1 point 2 months ago

Great cooler it HUGE tho, I'm just trolling, how does one finance a monster like that?

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

It is really HUGE lol. Kind of grows on ya though :)

SerialScaresMe 1 point 2 months ago

He obviously cheaped out on the cpu. 32 cores or nothing.

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

They didn't have the 2990 in stock, figured I would try the 2950

SerialScaresMe 1 point 2 months ago

I cant believe you would do something like that. The true pcmr would go with 32 cores.

[comment deleted]
SerialScaresMe 1 point 2 months ago

I'm just screwing with you, I only have a quad core processor with 2 cores for graphics. So essentially a dual core processor.

NobleWinterWolf 1 point 2 months ago

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thank you for the kind words :) I hope all your dreams come true

GoldTerror 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

This build is amazing, I'm insanely jealous. Is it rude to ask how old your son is? It's awesome he has such a rad parent

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thank you He just turned 18 this year, my little man :)

xdArbitrary 1 point 2 months ago

It's definitely hard to find something wrong with this build however I would recommend upgrading maybe one or two monitors to 144hz or over, however if you are just using it as a workstation that probably wouldn't be necessary. Although I would highly advise it if the PC is being used for gaming.

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Definitely. I am holding out for Nvidia BFG when it comes out.

JOINDSPQR 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Have you tried running Crysis? Might get like 30fps

Nater650 1 point 2 months ago

I bet you could probably run Fallout 76 with this easily.

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I will have to check that out, haven't ran that in years :)

Incend14ry 1 point 2 months ago

all jokes aside, I would appreciate if you dedicate some of the leftover cpu and gpu power to folding@home. It is a project that uses little bits of your computer power (can be configured) to run calculations on proteins and stuff to help find a cure for cancer. https://foldingathome.org/start-folding/

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thank you for the Link. I wasn't aware there was such a program. i have been running SETI@home for years. I will keep SETI on my older rig and look into this for this rig. Thanks again :)

Thank you

Akonixz 1 point 2 months ago

But there are only 60hz monitors. It makes me cri so hard

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

Yes, I will be getting 3 of Nvidia's 65" BFGs when they come out and move the threadripper and the original 2 2080s into my old comp and put an Intel in this one.

LedZeppin 1 point 1 month ago

The new Ryzen 9 series coming out seems like it would run over the thread ripper if AMD wanted to take it that way, and the same thing with the 3000 series for the Radeon GPU's coming out against Nividia's 2000 series

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

I will definitely be switching to Radeon and Intel Extreme with an open Eatx case. I've changed my mind so many times on this build I ended up with so many Extras 2 2080s 8 120 radiators 1 360 radiator 1 480 radiator 2 1200w PS 4 400ml pump/res 2 TR4 CPU coolers A gazillion fittings, fans, cables ect Might be time to upgrade my old comp. lol

Hydra2005 1 point 2 months ago

Yooooo, sick build man, do you do gaming?

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thank you Not a big gamer though I am playing farcry 5 atm. Mostly point clouds, cad, file managment

Peterowsky 1 point 2 months ago

Fantastic dream build.

So... this is probably going to come out of the blue, but how is/was the air cooler you used for the CPU? Because info on it is sparse at best and since you are one of the few builders with one, I figured I might as well ask. Also, please update us on the water cooling (and what you think of each part). Did the 4 RAM kits play nice with each other? Are you running RAID on those SSDs? This build is just insane, and with 4 NAS systems it kind of makes sense to only have SSDs.

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

For the short time I had the Wraith it performed flawlessly. The huge size of it grew on me and the software for it actually worked. If you were to chose it I am certain you would not regret it. The water cooling I did is not the most efficient eg: 1 radiator and one res would perform better, but only having 2 pipes is boring and didn't fit the Overkill theme. So I went with 4 radiators (Alphacool NexXos ST30 120mm because of the funky way the inlets are designed) and 2 Reservoirs (Enermax NEOChanger 400mm RGB because of the RGB and remote control for pump speed and lighting). I got 2 Bitspower RGB waterblocks for the 2080TIs the only issues I had with those is no Backplate and the they tell you to use original screws for the original backplate yet the thread size is different, also the DRGB connectors are not the same as on my mother board, each 3 pin but MB is ooo configuration and wateblock is oo o .The CPU block is XSPC Raystorm Neo in black chrome. PETG 16mm tubing and a gazillion fittings. I have just completed the water cooling and have yet tested each part. The RAM kits were plug n play, no issues what so ever (after a Bios update). NOW the RAID SSDs that's a different story. Gigabyte has a terrible bios and the instructions for setting up the M.2s in raid don't work. It took some googling and trial and error to get them set up. I am trying to post some updated pics but I think they are in the middle of changing the format here and I keep getting errors.

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Well day 1 after leak testing my loops, 1 of the Enermax Neos decided to crap the bed. I noticed a pool of liquid on the desk and looked everywhere for the leak. Noticed bursts of air coming into the res from the edge of the barrel. Looked underneath and noticed drops of water dripping from the remote control sensor. It is a sealed unit and the barrel wont come off so I have no Idea what happen. Looking at the reviews, it probably developed a crack somewhere. I knew going into this there had been issues with cracking but the remote control pump speed and RGB lured me in lol. The price point on these is really cheap so after thinking about it I decided to order 2 more and will replace this one and have a spare then I will not have to change my loops.

daniiecx 1 point 2 months ago

As someone new to PC building wanting to use this case, does it need to be watercooled or can I build it like a regular open case build design?

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

You can build it open case, my temps weren't bad before water cooling. The fans on the side of the case would just be for show as they cool nothing.

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

hoothootowl 1 point 1 month ago

What's with all that memory?

Rocketguy53 1 point 1 month ago

I am building an engineering WS for a buddy and he wants to run 128GB in it. It looks like that is what you have. So I was just wondering if you had or have any problems with the G.Skill memory you are using. I suspect not but am very curious. That is a killer machine.

Northarrow submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Thank you :) I've had no problems what so ever. I did update my MB to support the ram, that's about it.

Rocketguy53 1 point 29 days ago

Thanks for your reply. In the interim I purchaseda HyperX Predator 128GB (8 x 16GB) DDR4 3000MHz DRAM package and installed them yesterday. I did it in pairs and the machine accepted each pair with no problem and it appears to be running fine. I used a ASRock X399 Fatal1ty and had problems where it would crash after the windows installation files were loaded. I had BIOS 3.30 and just decided because I had no other options to upgrade to 3.50 and after that everything has run nominally.
