Dude, sweet set-up. What the hell do you do to warrant that monstrosity, if you don't mind me asking? +100

  • 24 points

Thank you I do allot of multitasking, Processing point clouds, dealing with a gazillion files. Is it warranted ? probably not. I have 6 1080p on my other PC and was on my way to get 3 40" 4k when my son convinced me "another 6 would be cool dad". Should have ignored him lol

I love the blackout curtain in the background even though you're in a basement (I'm guessing based on the studs in the ceiling on the last photo).

Solid setup. I actually went 'holy ****' when I opened PCpartpicker, because your build was featured. My gf ran into the room cause she thought something went wrong.

Same here caught interest when I saw point clouds, that's the dream set up right there I need to save up bit more though and flip my old rig.

  • 3 points

Started with 2080 ultras because the TIs were impossible to find, 3 days into the build I found a couple 2080TI ultras, and the Raith cooler.

  • 3 points

Yeah... that Wraith cooler was annoying. Should have been out in August and I only found one recently after both TR builds were done. Won't even try for dual 2080 Tis til Feb.

Nice setup btw!

Hey out of curiosity, can you explain how you've connected all 6 monitors? Did you connect them all to one card with DisplayPort MST hubs, or did you connect three to each card. If you did connect two both cards, how does that work when you play a game across all 6 screens?

  • 2 points

I connected 3 to each card. SLI only supports 5. If I game on multi monitors. I sli and span the bottom 3.

  • 1 point

Ah I see. I was wondering because if you actually did play on all screens, if that actually worked or not but nvm

  • 1 point

Yes it will play games on all six, just not in SLI. The bezels are annoying though. If I was going to strictly game it would be better to have maybe 3 comparable 40" monitors which you could get for around the same price as these 6 and the stand.

Super jealous, especially of all the Samsung solid state storage and dual RTX 2080 Tis. The six 4K monitor setup is deliciously decadent like the rest of the build, but with a 2080 Ti SLI, have you considered going with higher refresh rates?

A 'dash' of overkill?!?! More like 'completely overkill i Can do anything' build! Honestly, though, who has nearly 10k to build a pc like that? I bet Windows is buttery smooth! :D Have you benchmarked it at all yet?

close to 20g here. I'm still in the middle of building it, just waiting on the water blocks. The only quick BM I ran was 3DMark TimeSpy Extreme Scored a not too bad 12113

Once optimized, with that build you could compete on the 3DMark leaderboards! (if you care about that) Especially with watercooling...

Surprisingly not that bad with the open case. I am going to do a dual loop with 4 rads ( I know its not as efficient) 16mm tubing 120 fans. hopefully this postal dispute thing ends and the stuff will show up.

The SSDs alone are almost $4k

  • 1 point

4x 120mm radiators? I don't think that'll really be great for cooling the parts in your system.

Do you mean 4x 420mm radiators?

  • 2 points

Yes 2 loops of 1 400ml reservoir running through 2 120mm Radiators. I'm aware its not as efficient as running through the 420. If I do run into temp problems I have a 420 and fans I can always put on. Aesthetics is the only reason I am trying the 120s.

It's definitely hard to find something wrong with this build however I would recommend upgrading maybe one or two monitors to 144hz or over, however if you are just using it as a workstation that probably wouldn't be necessary. Although I would highly advise it if the PC is being used for gaming.

  • 1 point

The new Ryzen 9 series coming out seems like it would run over the thread ripper if AMD wanted to take it that way, and the same thing with the 3000 series for the Radeon GPU's coming out against Nividia's 2000 series

  • 2 points

I will definitely be switching to Radeon and Intel Extreme with an open Eatx case. I've changed my mind so many times on this build I ended up with so many Extras 2 2080s 8 120 radiators 1 360 radiator 1 480 radiator 2 1200w PS 4 400ml pump/res 2 TR4 CPU coolers A gazillion fittings, fans, cables ect Might be time to upgrade my old comp. lol

Thank you Not a big gamer though I am playing farcry 5 atm. Mostly point clouds, cad, file managment

  • 1 point

Fantastic dream build.

So... this is probably going to come out of the blue, but how is/was the air cooler you used for the CPU? Because info on it is sparse at best and since you are one of the few builders with one, I figured I might as well ask. Also, please update us on the water cooling (and what you think of each part). Did the 4 RAM kits play nice with each other? Are you running RAID on those SSDs? This build is just insane, and with 4 NAS systems it kind of makes sense to only have SSDs.

  • 1 point

For the short time I had the Wraith it performed flawlessly. The huge size of it grew on me and the software for it actually worked. If you were to chose it I am certain you would not regret it. The water cooling I did is not the most efficient eg: 1 radiator and one res would perform better, but only having 2 pipes is boring and didn't fit the Overkill theme. So I went with 4 radiators (Alphacool NexXos ST30 120mm because of the funky way the inlets are designed) and 2 Reservoirs (Enermax NEOChanger 400mm RGB because of the RGB and remote control for pump speed and lighting). I got 2 Bitspower RGB waterblocks for the 2080TIs the only issues I had with those is no Backplate and the they tell you to use original screws for the original backplate yet the thread size is different, also the DRGB connectors are not the same as on my mother board, each 3 pin but MB is ooo configuration and wateblock is oo o .The CPU block is XSPC Raystorm Neo in black chrome. PETG 16mm tubing and a gazillion fittings. I have just completed the water cooling and have yet tested each part. The RAM kits were plug n play, no issues what so ever (after a Bios update). NOW the RAID SSDs that's a different story. Gigabyte has a terrible bios and the instructions for setting up the M.2s in raid don't work. It took some googling and trial and error to get them set up. I am trying to post some updated pics but I think they are in the middle of changing the format here and I keep getting errors.

  • 1 point

Well day 1 after leak testing my loops, 1 of the Enermax Neos decided to crap the bed. I noticed a pool of liquid on the desk and looked everywhere for the leak. Noticed bursts of air coming into the res from the edge of the barrel. Looked underneath and noticed drops of water dripping from the remote control sensor. It is a sealed unit and the barrel wont come off so I have no Idea what happen. Looking at the reviews, it probably developed a crack somewhere. I knew going into this there had been issues with cracking but the remote control pump speed and RGB lured me in lol. The price point on these is really cheap so after thinking about it I decided to order 2 more and will replace this one and have a spare then I will not have to change my loops.

  • 1 point

As someone new to PC building wanting to use this case, does it need to be watercooled or can I build it like a regular open case build design?

  • 2 points

You can build it open case, my temps weren't bad before water cooling. The fans on the side of the case would just be for show as they cool nothing.

What's with all that memory?

  • 1 point

I am building an engineering WS for a buddy and he wants to run 128GB in it. It looks like that is what you have. So I was just wondering if you had or have any problems with the G.Skill memory you are using. I suspect not but am very curious. That is a killer machine.

  • 1 point

Thank you :) I've had no problems what so ever. I did update my MB to support the ram, that's about it.

  • 1 point

Thanks for your reply. In the interim I purchaseda HyperX Predator 128GB (8 x 16GB) DDR4 3000MHz DRAM package and installed them yesterday. I did it in pairs and the machine accepted each pair with no problem and it appears to be running fine. I used a ASRock X399 Fatal1ty and had problems where it would crash after the windows installation files were loaded. I had BIOS 3.30 and just decided because I had no other options to upgrade to 3.50 and after that everything has run nominally.
