I intended this to be a reasonably priced but powerful gaming rig, able to handle any game at 1440p 75Hz. It is replacing my dying i7-6700HQ and GTX 960M laptop. In the end it all came together pretty well, had almost no issues while building and it works great. One tiny hitch was that I realised my motherboard only has 3 fan headers, so I had to buy a fan splitter. I was luckily able to get a lot of the parts (especially the monitor) on sale for black friday, however wasn't able to build until now. Still in the process of benchmarking and planning on overclocking the 1070ti. All the parts look great, and the pc is a beast. My only complaint would be that between the blower-style GPU and stock case fans it can get a little noisy under load. Planning on buying a CPU cooler, and an extra hard drive in the future.

Sorry for the ****** pictures.

Part Reviews

Really great processor, got it for a good price and factory overclock saves me the hassle. Also comes with a good stock cooler.

Thermal Compound

It's the best thermal compound.

Fantastic mATX board with tons of features. Easy to set up and use. Could do with 1 extra fan header.

Good quality fast RAM for a great price.

Really fast, high quality. No complaints.

Video Card

Great quality and powerful card. Blower style means it runs hotter and louder but I got it for an insane price.

Fantastic case, looks great and is extremely easy to work in. I would say cable management was almost easier than in some much larger cases. Doesn't block much sound.

Wireless Network Adapter

Strong signal, could be easier to set up.

Case Fan

Good fans, fairly quiet.

You should have waited for the 2060 it is the same speed but $100 cheaper with RTX cores!

Perhaps, although I'm not sure it'll be $100 cheaper. I live in th UK where stuff is slightly more expensive, and I doubt it will release at <£300. If it does...oh well. You can't wait forever, I actually bought this GPU around the time RTX launched, I figured the new cards would be marked up about as much as their counterparts (which is mostly true).

Nice, looks like a solid build with a consistent colour palette. Long live the Ryzen!

Nice. I would of gone for a 1080p 144hz experience, becauae BEST GAMER in town, but meh your choice

Yeah I thought about it, but I prefer open world RPGs, so I decided the higher-res cinematic experience was more important for me.

Where did you purchase the B450 Mortar from? I can't find it anywhere, and I want to use it for a build.

I bought it from Amazon during a black friday sale. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07FNMLCTM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thanks! I guess it's only available other in Europe? U.S. websites do not have it for sale anymore. Guess I'm finding a different one. :/

Yeah that may be the case. I think ASRock has some good boards, maybe try them.
