Description

Hey All,

my 27" Late 2012 iMac was dying and i wanted a modular PC again. I was looking for a small form factor and the Node 202 was the way to go.

So the Parts i used, a sooo not compatible with this Case, but at least i've done it.

There a some Things i had my Problems with:

  1. The Thermalright AXP-100 in combination with the TridentZ, i had to remove some Metal (see Pics)
  2. The praised Palit1070 Gamerock , also doesnt fit that well, i had also remove some of the Plastic from the cooler (see Pics)
  3. The 1070 also doesnt work with my 13mm thick 120mm Case Fans, the Fan Blades of the 1070 will connect to the fans , dafuq :(

But after These Problems the System works perfectly, Idle CPU Core TEmps 38°C , Load about 70°C , i didnt overclock the 6700K.

Happy Gaming All :D

+1 I Love that case and i would use it in my future gaming htpc but i do need a bluray drive so i decided to go for the raven rvz01. I will also need to do some work to fit the strix gtx 970 in and you give me confidenc that i will make it work.

why you dont consider to get the raven rvz02, it also got a Slot for a bluray drive and the 970 strix would easily fit in there :)

I did think about it. But my wife didnt like the look of it ;-). Sometimes there are some other factors which could influence a build:-). However i can deal with that np. But if the node 202 had a drive slot then this would be my case. So i love it to see people like you doing nice builds with it. Keep it up!

Hey man, what did you use to cut the metal on the cooler? I have the same motherboard and cooler and just let the cooler make slight contact with the WiFi I/o port. My load temps are usually around 53 degrees on the 6600k.

Nice build!

Just wondering, have you considered removing the fans and the shroud on the GPU (keeping the heatsink intact) and using 120mm fans (mounted on the case) to cool the GPU?

Amazing and well done, but try to remove the filter under the top cover of the case then you could fit your Cpu cooler in better way than what u did. :S

Hey, so I'm looking into a very similar build to yours and I was worried about running into the same problem as you. Maybe you could clear something up for me? If I use the Noctua NH-L9i 57.5 CFM CPU Cooler will I run into the same problem you did? I am using G Skill Ripjaw V series memory, if that makes a difference. And how did you solve the case fan problem? I am going to use a 1070 as well and I don't know if I need to skip the case fan altogether or find a smaller one. If you could give your input that would be wonderful, thanks!

hm i think with the noctua cooler u are fine. take a 1070 which only uses 2 Slots , i had to go with additional slim Profile fans on the outside of the case :/

Looks really great. It's a shame Fractal doesn't have a white model of this case. Did you have to remove the cpu dust filter to fit in the Thermalright AXP-100?

Hi Donson4k,

Great mini-itx build!

I am putting together a similar setup and I wanted to ask how did you remove the blue plate on the gamerock? Also, how did you manage to cut the side of the plastic with the hdmi metal plate, with a seitenschneider, to fit in the metal bracket? Thanks in advance for any answer and once again great build!!

man, I am about to buy gtx 1070 and this version is the cheapest in my country - Palit Game Rock PCI-Ex GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 (256bit) (1632/8000) (DVI, HDMI, 3xDisplayPort) (NE51070S15P2-1041G)

I am very new in building pc, will be my first ever build. Could you confirm this card is ok, not in premium?

Hey nice paint job. I got a question though did you paint the bottom of the case or just the top? I'm debating whether or not to try and paint the bottom...I would have to mask some areas but from what I've seen it can cause jagged edges. I want to try and avoid that if possible.

Hi what fans did you use to put under the gpu? I've the exact same build and dunno what will fit. Thanks.

Hello, how are you? I am wondering why you had to trim the shroud on the GPU? Why didn’t it fit? I ask, because I am thinking about getting a palit 1080 Super Jetstream that is the same size on a node 202.

Thank you. Best regards
