Description

Hey hey hey! This is my first official build and my first time posting to the website. As I built this machine I just kept getting excited about being able to display it on pcpartpicker for you all to see. Just a short background I was able to pick up the processor for a really good price in which my friends convinced me to start a build because my 2011 Toshiba Qosmio wasn't good enough for what I wanted to do.

My main purpose for building this pc was to get into streaming as well as comfortable play with software from Adobe Creative Cloud such as Premiere and After Effects. After buying parts one piece at a time I was able to complete the build where 2 friends came over and helped me in which one convinced me to raid 0 the Intel 730 solid state drives.

I decided to name it Penguin because I want to keep the computer black and white and have future plans to custom liquid cool it. In the mean time just going to run the stock cpu cooler.

Thanks for checking it out! Please feel free to leave comments!

Part Reviews

CPU

Love this processor! Clocked at 4.0 out of the box no complaints here!

Motherboard

For your black and white builds this is the way to go! Love all the SATA ports!

Memory

This ram is nicely colored to make any of your build to the color you want. Love it!

Storage

A friend had me raid 0 these bad boys and Adobe programs don't even have the chance to think if they want to open up or not. Oh and it comes with a sticker !

Storage

Just your average 1TB internal hard drive. Use it to hold the thousands of pictures I never really go through and organize.

Case

At first I was worried about not having optical bays but I can't remember the last time I put a cd into anything. This case is amazing and do not regret buying it. If you want a lot of room with amazing cable management or just want to throw in a liquid cooling system you have no problem!

Power Supply

Love the black sleeving on the cables. Downside is that it is only semi modular and 80+ bronze but hey for the money you can't go wrong.

Nice build. +1 You should have got atleast a 970. Unless you only game on like csgo or lol. But in no time i bet you will wanna get a new gpu because its not running at ultra at 6p fps for some new games. I made that mistake haha

Thank you! Honestly I just got into PC gaming due to friends of mine so starting out small with LOL and H1Z1 and I really wanted the 970 but due to being impatient and wanting to have my build ready I got the 960 which was an upgrade being that I originally was going to get a 760. But yes I will be getting a stronger card later on.

Looks good, cable management is spot on.

How the hell did you get a 4790k for a hundo? Thats awesome

Jamesflo submitter 1 Build 1 point 46 months ago

Thanks! And I got it cheap due to working for a company that is a partner with Intel.

All you got to do is download the ISO to a flash drive and just boot from the flash drive. If you have a Windows product key you go to their website it gives you the file to download.

I used my laptop to download the file but if not you can use any computer to download the file , you just need a 16gb flash drive and be able to access the Microsoft website even if it isn't from your computer.

I also bought the case for my build that i plan to do later. Are you planning on adding more fans to the front for more airflow?

Jamesflo submitter 1 Build 1 point 45 months ago

Yes, I plan on putting a radiator on the top and 2 more fans in the front.

Thanks! I will look into it because I noticed a lot of people use that one and I would like something other than the stock before I go custom full loop.

I was thinking of going with the corsair 140mm with the white led. Have you heard anything on those?
