Description

It is hard to get pictures of the computer because of the tempered glass reflecting so sorry but I don't have a fancy camera!

I went with a yellow theme just because of the yellow stripe on my 1070. I love it so far because it's different. I've done red and black and white and black so I went yellow black grey and white lol.

I have reused parts from my last build.

This system is dead silent even when it's under full load. The GPU fans are crazy quiet because this card somehow stays very cool all the time. I play A LOT of Rainbow 6 Siege and I get 144hz at 1440p all the time so this card is good enough for me. You're probably wondering why I spent this much money but no 1080. Well a lot was reused and I just started college so I couldn't spend an extra 200 for the 1080 at the time. Maybe later. Also, I like a good looking computer up on my desk so there's that.

If you have any questions just comment (:

Thanks for looking!

EDIT: yes the red on the monitor stand kills me. I will paint it later. The red cable coming from the Sound Blaster amp will be replaced soon but it was the cable it came with. No worries I will fix (:

EDIT 2: yes the lights appear to be green in some pics, they arent in person just to clear that up (:

Whatever the colours actually are, kind of are, were intended to be; I like it. :)

1.9GHz clock speed on a 1070, that's almost a 1080 boost clock! Is that just this card's boost is there some over-volting involved to get there? Also; that's a lot of power for one card, is SLI on the horizon?

The only thing I'm not a fan of is that SABERTOOTH white board. But it's yours and if you love it, that's all that matters.

Great build mate.

  • 2 points

sorry the 1.9 is actually boost not core!! My mistake. I actually had a white and black build before and I reused the motherboard because I haven't conjured up the money for an x99 yet (; SLI will be in the future stay tuned

  • 1 point

The amp edition is huge and has a lot of power going too it. That thick cooler on it can OC nicely

  • 1 point

So yes? it is just the card's boost clock?

  • 1 point

Most likely

  • 1 point

My MSI Gtx 1070 is boosted to 2.1 GHz so yeah definitely 1.9 isn't insane for boost clock on the 1070

"Also; that's a lot of power for one card, is SLI on the horizon?" I think he just got tricked in the "more power equals better power efficiency

Finally, I'm glad to see someone who actually gets a pair of quality headphones and a separate mic instead of that gamer garbage. (I myself have a pair of dt 880s)

I had "gamer garbage" before this weekend but I was just sick of it! It makes a HUGE difference in my gameplay! It's almost like cheating lol

Yeah, screw gamer garbage. :P I have some logitech artemis spectrums, and granted, they are 'gamer gear' but they sounded amazing, and I needed something with a built in mic (I travel a bit, so it's difficult to set up a mic everywhere) and the mic is awesome.

Congratulations on the feature! :)

Would you mind explaining the Sound Blaster e5 as well as the Blue Yeti? Are you streaming for such a setup and is the Sound Blaster e5 worth it's price.

What exactly do you achieve by using it?

...or are you just a audiophile.... :P

I'm quite curious, because I never managed to get my perfect headset - setup....

  • 2 points

the sound blaster paired with my headphones are literally like cheating. You can hear EVERYTHING that normally you wouldn't hear or it would be muffled. The sound blaster actually has a mode called scout mode which pinpoints enemy movement in the headset. I would say it is worth the price only if you have a decent pair of headphones. I'm not an audiophile but there is a huge difference from my hyper x cloud 2. The blue yeti was actually a birthday gift and my friends say it sounds great so I just kept it(:

  • 1 point

Thanks for the answer, hence I'm having the same pair of headphones I'm still reconsidering using them again. Currently using a Wireless H from Steelsteries. Before I used them with a Zalman 10$ Mic. However that was too much cables....

What kinda stand do you have for your microphone and do you always switch in Windows from your speakers to headset + microphone?

Thanks a bunch!

  • 1 point

Rhode PSA1 is the stand. Expensive but its of high quality. And I always listen to sound through my headset but yes if I needed to use my speakers I would do it through windows.

I actually really like the color scheme, the yellow and white go together pretty well. Whatever the green lights were supposed to look like, it still doesn't look too bad in the pics.

My only criticism is that the PSU is way overkill; my system has the exact same TPD as yours according to PCPP and I'm using a 750W PSU without issue.

I planned to sli later on and I got this on sale a couple of months ago (:

How is the mionix castor? I contemplated getting it, and am stuck between the Corsair M65 Pro, the Logitech G502 and that. I've been to the store to try the other two, but not the castor.

It is hard to get pictures of the computer because of the tempered glass reflecting so sorry but I don't have a fancy camera!

The fanciness of the camera isn't what minimizes reflections/glare. It's a polarizing filter, which can be placed in front of any lens, including a cell phone camera.

oh cool didn't know that! I will remember for next time!

Really.... I thought the case looked sexy *** hell when I first saw it with clean cable management skills and the led lights. I think that's what got me the most oh and how spacious it was from the inside. But nonetheless I was going to go all out in this first build. I have all the parts I need I'm just waiting a year for the new GTX 1080TI plus I'm saving my money as well.

The specs on the mobo say it supports DDR4 2133 & 2400. Did you have any issues with your DDR4 2666?

  • 2 points

No I never have issues and it runs at 2666 all the time anyways!

  • 1 point

Good to know bc this is almost the same setup I'm currently buying parts for and that's been only pause with the Sabertooth.

Did you have manually OC it or it just is what it is? Most mobos say in the specs that it'll run up to 3200 OC'd but this one only says 2133 and 2400.

  • 1 point

it automatically overclocks it. Sometimes itll be around 2800.

  • 1 point

You are correct. Since my last response, I discovered that the mobo supports Intel XMP which, when enabled, auto-OCs the ram.

Which is good because that was the only thing that gave me pause about it. Once I learned that, I ordered it to put in my 1st build.

yes you can. my ram boosts to 2667 mhz all the time. and thank you

The sale of those keys violate Microsoft ToS, and the keys may be unexpectedly disabled. Recommending, suggesting, advising, encouraging, hinting, or in any way implying these keys as a solution or option is not allowed on this site.

  • 1 point

My bad. Is this a more appropriate answer to that question? >>@thatderpm8 just search on google, you'll figure it out. Just trying to figure out how to answer without violating rules, I honestly didn't know it was a rule.

  • 1 point

Recommending, suggesting, advising, encouraging, hinting, or in any way implying

Meaning that suggesting the person search Google with the intention they find that site or a similar one still violates the rules. Purchasing from there or other gray-market sites is not actually what everyone does. People do it, but many do not. This is for a reason.

Because the 6600k and GTX 1070 pair well, especially since it sounds like he's just using this rig for gaming. If you want more supporting evidence for why the 6600k is more than capable of holding it's own when paired with high end GPU's (even in SLI) I can shoot you some links lol

Nothing, it is amazing price/performance, but it's not the best, and "Never Satisfied" means you want more/better. I'm just joking around about the name a bit. I do like how you spent that little bit that could have gotten a 1080 on aesthetics though, it looks amazing.

Your opinion on what you think your rig should look like is wrong because my opinion is that it doesn't look good.

  • SH4W, 2016

Honestly mate, it's a custom build. It most likely looks that way because /u/reiddeason wants it to. Something like personal rigs are incredibly subjective.

  • 4 points

slow clap

  • 3 points

This.

  • 3 points

Firstly, that is not at all what I said.

Secondly, If you cannot use quotations properly, please don't use them at all. How you interpret what I say and what I say are two very different things. You're just making yourself look stupid.

Thirdly, you mention how "something like personal rigs are incredible subjective" (BTW that is how you quote someone properly). If you appreciate something for being subjective like his/her rig, you would also appreciate my criticism for being "incredible subjective."

I put my advice out for the taking, I was not forcing anything, the OP can take it or leave it or do whatever he wants with it. The build was so good there was hardly anything wrong with it which is why you may have thought I was being harsh, as there was not many things to critique on.

What's the point of posting builds if people can't give feedback on them?

Just something for you to think about, Cheers -SH4W

  • 0 points

I will admit, I exaggerated a bit. I realize I did not quote what you said, but that's kind of the point of me "quoting" you (consider even further the fact that the quotation formatting is exactly like how 4chan does greentext).

Personal rigs are just that. Personal. There's no point in criticizing the subjective aspects of a build, at least not to the point to where you start suggesting that the submitter should change said aspects. On the other hand, it is perfectly fine to criticize something like cable management, fan configuration, etc. because those are objective aspects to the build. (Just a nitpick here, but I said "incredibly." Not "incredible.")

Either you, a moderator, or an admin deleted your original post, so I can't go back to see what you said.

I understand not having the same thematic tastes as other builders, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. From what I read, it indeed sounded like you were being harsh, which is why I paraphrased you that way.

I am legitimately sorry for taking what you said the wrong way, and for essentially bringing a rain of downvotes upon you. Hopefully we can both look past this and go on with our lives.

Best regards, CRS10114

  • 3 points

It's all good man, I forgive you. I can understand how I may have come across as harsh. I'd rather not have a comment way over something as small as, well a comment.

there is no green in the pc. Read the description and you will see that the lens on the camera makes it appear to be green. It is in fact all the same color yellow. And the desk I built myself so ill be keeping that (;

  • 1 point

+1 for homemade desk. Going to be condensing an edit rig and a gaming rig myself into a single build in the Corsair 900D (probably) and building myself a new desk as well.

  • 2 points

If I can make a suggestion (based on a personal wish of mine), and the fact that you already have two rigs- wire a server an render rig into your desk or on the back of your case, and use it as a sort of server to keep clutter on. If you are building your own desk, you could have the potential for some truly awesome work;)

  • 1 point

I actually already have 2 servers built in U-NAS enclosures, a 5TB RAID-1 one for for file storage, music storage and streaming and all PCs in the home to backup to, the other is a 24TB purely for movies and TV shows. But both of those are in a little $20 walmart shelf with my WinDVR box, router, switch, HDHomeRunPrime etc and will soon be moving into another room. Attributes a little bit to the heat but not a lot, just mostly to get some more space back. My wife gave me my own room angelic music plays when we moved into our new house after getting married and I have a decent amount of space in the room, but my desk is kind of an odd duck that Ive had since college and refuse to give up, but I would like it to be a little less cluttered. I'll make a post when I condense the PCs and I'll tag you in it.
