Nice build man! How come you split the SSDs into 2 256gb ones instead of one 500gb one?

I also only requested these for the build. It's just a workstation and doesn't have storage. Just needs enough storage for projects as all data is storage on the server.

I see. So, I take it you have gigabit internet due to that?

In LAN, all PCs are Gigabit (if they have Gigabit ports and your switches/routers are capable of it).

I have my modem, going into an ASUS RT-AC68U, which has one 100' wire to my workshop, which has a second ASUS RT-AC68U for mesh and my backup server, then another 100' wire that goes to my desk which has a D-Link 8-port unmanaged switch who feeds both my desktop and my server.

At home, I only have 40/10, because I don't really need more based on my usage.

I tried uploading the 20 or so pictures, four or five times, this is the most I could get, every single time I'd get errors, doesn't seem I'll be posting much builds here if it's always a PITA.

I want to say cable management looks bad but it all has a purpose and blends perfectly with the rest of the colors! That RAM looks mighty fine too.

The best build i've seen on here in a long time. How well do the 2080s work in SLI? I'm thinking about doing the same but haven't heard much on how well 2 RTX cards work in conjunction. Thanks

Where is the gigabyte PSU

  • 2 points

It had a 850W from Gigabyte, but CPU @ 4.2 all core and both GPUs stock pull 950W from the wall when folding with the GPUs and benching the CPU.

Also how is the rgb control I have heard it is pretty crap

I am in awe over this build. What is the piece that makes the GPU's stand upright instead of being directly attached to the MoBo?

  • 1 point

Custom designed 3D print. Took 7 revisions to have one strong enough to hold two GPUs, holds an RGB strip too.

i was wondering how that went lol did you end up splurging on some metal based filament??

I don't do PLA.

I only do ABS and now PVB from Polymaker.

Yeah I've heard/read good things but haven't done anything with it personally. Still though, way to dredge through it, your patience really shows in this build

What are your thermal highs and lows? Between the 2950x OC'd and 2 2080s, sounds like a nightmare even with the high airflow and AIO...

  • 1 point

One high 60's and the other low 70's when folding for 24+h.

2950X peaks quite high during rendering.

Why did you mount the GPU vertically? If the case is like tic tacs, then, well, your GPU is going to heat up like wildfire.

I'm looking to mount my gpu vertically. What riser kit did you use?

  • 1 point

These are custom, but I'd suggest the Cablemod kit.

Thanks! I'm looking at a very thicc 2080 card from aorus. I'm looking at the phanteks vertical gpu mount. Would you recommend vertical gpu mounting?

  • 1 point

Depends really, if it's a kit that doesn't make the GPU close to the side panel/tempered glass, it's OK if you're willing to sacrifice a few °C.

Hello dude, this is an amazing build. I did one similar to this on but one 2080 Xtreme and in a cougar conquer(also diff parts but u can see it if u want). I was wondering how you got the thermaltake software to work cuz mine is being annoying af rn. +1 tho it's lllllllit!
