Description

Hey,

Around 6 months ago when i was 14 I built my first ever gaming PC. I had no experience what so ever and started from scratch. 6 months on, I'm much more experienced (thanks to you guys and the rest of the internet) and have upgraded my PC a bit. I now have a CPU water cooler and a nice new case! Excluding the old case, this current build cost £720. For me, that's a good price. It can perform beyond my needs and certainly exceeded my expectations. None of the parts have degraded over time and they are all nice and clean!

My new CPU water cooler has reduced my CPU temperatures A LOT.

This new case allows me to add more fans which benefits my component cooling greatly and looks, in my opinion, AMAZING :) I can also control my fans using the built-in fan controller to either high, medium or low setting.

In the future (hopefully this christmas) I will be upgrading my graphics card. I'm on a £300 - £350 budget for my new graphics card and any recommendations will be appreciated.

I have 2 exhaust fans on top, an intake fan on the side next to the GPU, an intake fan on the front and and intake fan on the back which cools the water cooling radiator.

I hope you enjoyed looking at my build and I look forward to any comments! :D

Thank you.

Please note: I added the 'custom part' to make up for the keyboard, mouse and monitor prices which I couldn't find on here.

Nice little setup I like the monster cans :P what is the £120 of custom stuff? And I would reccomend a 970 and you'll be under your budget for a new graphics card, then you can spend any extra on other stuff. I'd reccomend a better PSU.

  • 1 point

the £120 of custom is the price of my monitor, keyboard, mouse etc lol :) thanks 4 the recommendation, lots of ppl seem 2 like that card.... and i agree with the psu needing a change but its bottom of my list atm

very nice budget setup +1 R9 270-280 are the best budgets cards right now imo. as for upgrade, I think a 970 will fit into that price range (I think in USD).

Of course the big graphics card of choice right now is the 970, but its not the only choice. Watch Tomshardware for the graphics cards of the month and you'll get a good idea of what card is great for any price point. Nice build btw, hopefully I can build a computer by the time I'm that old. (14 1/2)

The high tower case looks AMAZING! I'm planning on building one this xmas for ~$900 and I just skimped out on the case and chose a $40 mid tower.

ikr its my favourite case out! and cool, you wont regret it.... :)

only thing im confused about is the back fan you have an arrow pushing in cold air the back fan is an exhaust fan so it takes the hot air out unless you switched it around

Sweet build man! I am also your age and am just about to build my own gaming rig! Just to put in my vote, I would say definitely go for the GTX 970... best value for the money imo.

  • 1 point

Im currently 14, and i agree with you, this build is really good. my rig is very gaming oriented with an i5 Processor and a GTX 770 that im upgrading to a 780Ti after Xmas and man does it run games good

  • 1 point

If I may suggest, if I were you I would consider the 970 as an alternative to the 780ti. Or even maybe a 980 if the prices are comparable. Also, why not post your current setup, it's a beast of a system! If you want you can also check out my build-to-be.

I know this is old, but have you decided on what GPU you're getting? Or have you got one?

  • 1 point

Hey, I currently have the gigabyte Radeon r9 270 oc but I might get a msi gtx970 cuz I play a bit of far cry 4 and other graphically demanding games :)

  • 2 points

If you get one, one Asus 970 Strix would be a good upgrade. All games 1440p on high 60 fps, undoubtedly 1080p ultra 60fps+

the back fan should be an exhaust fan for gpu but if you currently have no heat problems with the 270x leave it

  • 1 point

thanks 4 the reply. its 270 OC btw lol its slightly different. The exhaust slot is being used to cool the radiator for my water cooler. do u think the side fan should be intake or exhaust? :)

  • 1 point

it all depends on your current tempatures, try checking the gpu's temp and then switch the fan as an exhaust and see if it helps might or might not, at the end of the day your choice!

Hey :) I am considering OC'ing my cpu but haven't decided yet. I got the water cooler because i was getting unusually high temps while gaming :/ and the back fan need to be intake to cool the water cooler radiator (if u look closely at the pics). Also, I have changed the side fan to exhaust so I'll see how that goes. And my monster can collection will get bigger!! Lol thanks :)

Thanks 4 the reply :) yea I have the side fan as an exhaust now (on trial). Also, the rear fan needs to be intake to cool the water cooling radiator. And thanks for the recommendation :D I will probably be buying a gtx 970/80
