Description

First build. Built for gaming. Would have like to have a wide format gsync monitor but did the best I could with the budget I had. Hopefully down the road I'll be able to upgrade. The build could not have gone smoother and would definitely recommend everyone build their own computer after this.

Green/black theme - could have gone with H440 razer edition +1 Everything's on point. Did you by any chance bought your motherboard from ebay?

  • 1 point

I considered the Razer edition but I've never owned anything Razer so decided to spend the extra $30 elsewhere. I got the motherboard from overclockersUK.

  • 1 point

UK Exclusive right? But yay! Something finally avaliable in the UK but not the US! (Who seems to get everything and more, at better prices :( )

  • 1 point

ahh alrght. Here in Australia the only way to get that motherboard is buying from ebay. H440 razer edition has pretty cool green LEDs.(front of case, psu shroud, back i/o sheild, bottom of the case. "decided to spend the extra $30 elsewhere" you mean the H440 Matte Black costed $30 more than the razer edition? no way, maybe there in UK is more expensive but here in Aus in all the shops that I looked at H440 razer is more expensive by AUD $30

  • 1 point

No I decided to spend the $30 elsewhere instead of on the Razed edition which is $30 more than the matte black.

I know this probably is not the place to ask but i also recently purchased the sniper mobo. When i try to put it in the case it doesn't line up with the standoffs. when i remove the io shield it aligns with no problems. How did you get yours in the case? Did you remove the Styrofoam on the back of the io shield?

  • 1 point

You probably don't have the io shield pressed in all the way. I didn't remove the backing. Don't be too gentle with it. I had to press it in more than I thought.

It worked thank you. the screw hole on the far right still does not line up with any standoffs but there are also no spots to put a standoff under it. Is it okay if i don't attach the last screw?

Yes as long as it feels secured in

Thanks! It was a little scary firing it up for the first time but very exciting. Had a lot of fun building it.

+1 Very nice black/green pc

Thank you. I agree about the greens being off but I just couldn't find sleeved cables other than the Corsair ones in the right color.

You can fully choose each cable's color

Wow, I didn't even know that gigabyte brought back the sniper boards. The one problem I have with the board is the PCI slots. No one uses them, and they are ugly. I wish there was one that came in blue, too. +1

For the most part, they're not even available in the US. I've been looking for an matx board in green and they're all overseas.

That's too bad. We need boards other than red+black.

  • 1 point

Agreed.

  • 1 point

Although, if done right the red+black scheme can be very good looking.

No complaints, just feels saturated and overdone at this point. I guess that's why mobos are coming out with rgb color options

This looks beautiful, great job. Can you explain how the 'stop' and 'silent' buttons on Gigabyte's graphics card work? Do you have to manually press them, or do the fans automatically turn off when the pc is idle and those lights turn on to indicate that the fans are stopped?

  • 1 point

It's all automatic. The fans auto turn off when the GPU is below 60C.

  • 1 point

Techy is correct, the stop/silent lights up and off when that function happens, not an actual button on the gpu. It was first intro'd on the gtx 960, if I'm not mistaken.

That's great. For me, the Gigabyte G1 980 Ti is absolutely perfect. I have their G1 970 now and I just love it to pieces.

+1, Those are some damn nice braided cables you got there, how much did they cost you, also where did you get them?

  • 1 point

How well does that G1.Sniper run? I am debating getting one for my Skylake build as Green/Black is my favorite color scheme but there don't seem to be any reviews on it.

  • 1 point

I managed to OC my 6600K to 4.4GHz on it before I got Prime95 errors, it was suffering a bit from Vdroop though so I ended up just disabling power states altogether (It kept crashing when it would hit the second or third power state due to incorrect voltage levels). After getting all the drivers installed and set, it seems to run just fine. Dunno if the wonky voltage delivery on mine was just a one-off lemon or a problem with the run in general. It'd be good to get June's feedback on it as well, if it is a general problem with the boards then that might have been why they didn't announce them all that much.

Also, where did you order the parts? Especially with the MOBO considering I'm going for a Green/Black build but Newegg doesn't seem to have any. Also would wish PCPP would add costs and pictures for it.

  • 1 point

PCPP doesn't show details because it's not available in the US. I got it from overclockersUK.
