How to see how reliable a HDD?

I just acquired a 2tb WD Green HDD and wanted to use it to replace my 1tb WD Blue HDD I use to store games and files, it used to be in a Time Capsule though so I want to make sure I don't loose my data, any way to check this?

the best you can do is check the SMART system on it...

also, MOST wd green drives are much slower than the Blues, so keep that in mind if you plan to put games on it as it may slow down your loading times

green drives are best used for storing files and media or for a cheap, basic pc... its just a low performance, cheap, reliable drive.

Any HDD can fail at any time for any reason unexpectedly even if all tests have passed. Therefore it is always extremely important to backup any and all data you care about.

You can use Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostics which will test your HDD for problems and let you know if any failures are expected.
