So a first time builder here. Right now in at around 2000$ and I'm hoping to be around 1500/1600$. I want a 144hz monitor and I really like the 1060 but if it's better to switch I will. Thanks! Any help is appreciated PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Managed to knock around $200 off. And got you the i5 6500 instead of the 6400! You were spending quite a lot on a motherboard and case. I changed these for the below. The case is still corsair and the motherboard is excellent for the price with USB 3.1, excellent audio codec etc. I also changed the monitor for a similar one with similar specs but cost less.

Other ideas to save even more money would be to ditch the CPU cooler as you could just use the stock that comes with the CPU. You could also save some money but changing the GPU - I know the MSI is a very good version of the 1060 but it is quite expensive still!

Also, you could save more money but getting a more budget friendly keyboard/headset for now and then just upgrade in the future... just a thought!

Price is much lower and changed some stuff around. You have an RX 480 instead of a 1060 for the freesync abilities and the saved $50, I changed your ram to 16gb and removed the wifi adapter, if for some reason you really need it add it back but since you should have it connected by ethernet 99.99% of the time you'll be fine without it. The MOB I added has almost the same specs, but for half the price, and the new case has everything you'll need aswell.

CPU Upgraded your CPU. Very powerful. I ditched the CPU cooler because the stock cooler is good enough Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor $259.75 @ Vuugo
Motherboard You were overpaying for that board. This simple B150 from MSI is good enough for your needs. MSI B150 Gaming M3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard $146.79 @ Amazon Canada
Memory 8gb of RAM, which is mostly fine. You can always get another 8gb stick later. Avexir Core Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory $54.99 @ Newegg Canada
Storage ADATA Premier SP550 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $54.99 @ Newegg Canada
Storage Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $61.50 @ Vuugo
Video Card Cheapened up the 1060 with the ASUS turbo. It's a good card. Asus GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB Turbo Video Card $349.99 @ NCIX
Case Cheapened up the case with this. It's a nice case. Corsair SPEC-02 ATX Mid Tower Case $68.95 @ Vuugo
Power Supply Corsair CXM 550W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply $79.98 @ DirectCanada
Optical Drive LG GH24NSC0 DVD/CD Writer $19.99 @ DirectCanada
Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit $117.98 @ DirectCanada
Wireless Network Adapter Good reviews and cheaper Rosewill RNX-N150PCe PCI-Express x1 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter $14.99 @ Newegg Canada
Case Fan Take the preinstalled case fan from your case and mount it in the back as exhaust. Then take this fan and mount in the front as intake. From there, you can achieve positive airflow. You can get more fans later. Corsair Air Series AF120 Quiet Edition 39.9 CFM 120mm Fan $9.99 @ Memory Express
Monitor Acer GN246HL 24.0" 1920x1080 144Hz Monitor $249.99 @ Newegg Canada
Headphones Kingston HyperX Cloud Revolver Headset $109.22 @ DirectCanada
Keyboard Sorry that I removed your keyboard, but here is my reasoning. Keyboards are not essential devices. You can get a simple basic one you get from prebuilt HP PCs and it'll work pretty much just as well. You'd be better off investing in a gaming mouse than a gaming keyboard. If you cannot absolutely live without the keyboard, then you can go ahead and get it.

If you pay an extra few 20 dollars you could get a g2 gold certified psu, and it would be totally worth it

This. The G2 is one of the best PSUs money can buy.

Thank you a ton! I a lot of good changes that I think I'll take. I already have a logitech g501 mouse which I love but I might get a cheaper keyboard.

The site you're talking about for windows 10 is pretty sketchy.
