Worth the price saving?

Hi, currently overclockers UK have crucial ballistic sport 16gb 4x4gb kit, cas timings 16,16,16,16 2400MHz @ £70

Is this worth the saving of £30 given that otherwise I would probably end up getting corsair vengeance RAM 16gb 2x8gb kit cas timings 15,17,17,35 3000MHz for around £100.

I know that the crucial RAM isn't as fast but is it going to make a noticable difference for a build for gaming and some light video editing? I feel like £70 is an unbeatable price for 16GB ddr4 ram at the moment but don't want to be left with sub par performance because I didn't research properly!

Thanks in advance! I may post in the deals section of the forum depending on what others say in this topic :) .

While speed doesnt have a lot of impact in most cases, it still has one it simply gets diminishing return very quickly.

The sweetspot currently sits at 2400-2666 but games still usually see slight improvement as speed ramps up. Some games like Fallout 4 simply scales up right up with the speed of your RAM so knowing what you plan on using with it and verifying benchmarks is a must.

If you have the budget for the faster RAM, its not a bad thing bu you must simply know that for most users, the 3-6fps differences might not mean much but when you take 3-6fps on RAM, on GPU model, on OCing your CPU and so on, it can add up to a substantial difference.

Hmmm thank you for the info very useful!

I think the crucial will do the job. I mean it's not the best but it's £30 saved which I could put towards a better ssd or something else and in reality I don't think I will notice the difference in performance really.

The difference for you isn't noticeable enough to justify a £30 price increase.

Which of your builds are you going for ?

I went ahead and deleted the ones I am no longer considering. Should have done it sooner anyways!

So either the FIRST BUILD Katy lake OR FIRST BUILD overclocked.

To be honest they're quite similar builds I'm just watching prices!
