How many watts do I need for my build?

I'm looking to build a pc with, 1 SSD, 1 Hard Drive, 1 1070 or 1080, 16gb of Ram, and the Ryzen R7 1700, with a strong air cooler like the D15 or an AIO. How many Watts do you guys think I need for overclocking? Like 750W?

  • Thanks in Advance, Arthur

450W is more than enough, 550W is good too. If your budget allows, pick Corsair TX550M, Bitfenix Whisper M 550, or Corsair RM550x. There are also some Thermaltake solutions if you want lots of RGB.

I plan on overclocking, IMO I think at least 650W if I went with the 1080. Opinion?

350W or 450W would be enough, wattage isn't going to be a issue with a PSU. What is your budget?

For just a PSU!? Overclocking won't roughly triple your wattage. If you want to overclock you will be looking at 450W at the minimum since that is the smallest good PSU's are made. If you want to do SLI down the road go for a 650W or 750W PSU
