Does anybody know of any USB hubs with USB 3.1 gen 2 that fit in a 5.25” bay?
There's one Here.
Or I could just purchase this: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/rsnG3C/e-sds-usb-30-2-ports-usb-31-type-c-2-ports-35-inch-front-panel-usb-hub-20-pin-connector-2ft-adapter-cable + this: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/PDwqqs/startech-35-inch-to-525-inch-floppy-mounting-kit-bracket-black-plastic
If i want dual USB 3.1 type C ports instead of just 1
You could but it looks like there just using USB 3.0 for everything which means your only going to do transfers at a max of 5gbps through that Type-C connection.
The one that I linked to has both USB 3.0 and a USB 3.1 type connection cables. If your motherboard can accept a USB 3.1 type header cable then your in luck with the one I provided. You’ll be able to transfer at rates up to 10gbps.
My motherboard (Asus Maximus IX Code) should have a USB 3.1 front panel connector, I’m not sure if it’s type C though
Pretty sure I also need an extra USB 3.0 header to get those extra USB 3.0 ports to be functional
One header for the USB 3.0 ports on the case + an extra header to get the USB 3.0 ports on that 5.25” USB hub working
If you have a USB 3.1 header on your motherboard then that plug will plug into it and the USB 3.0 plug will plug into your USB 3.0 header on your motherboard too.
This is what the 3.1 header should look like on your motherboard.
