I would like to start recording my gameplay, but not streaming. What software would you recommend?
OBS or Nvidia Shadowplay would be the first two that come to mind
I've made a bit of a tutorial for OBS and at the end of it, there's a reference for setting up NVidia Highlights (record your kills/deaths):
(It keeps referencing the game Hunt: Showdown) but you can record any game.)
OBS works well for me, able to record HOI4,TF2, DeSmume, DosBox, and the oocasional touhou without much overhead with my i7 7700hq and GTX 1050
OBS using the NVENC recording protocol should do you well. that's what i use to record and it always looks great. i set my bitrate to 42000 which might be a bit high for your needs but it shouldn't be unreasonable if you're playing at 1080p
Yep, 1080p on a GTX 970, and an FX 8300. I’ll be recording games such as Scrap Mechanic, and old games like Roller Coaster Tycoon.
you'll be fine with OBS then. it has a lot of user friendly features and is really easy to run
gotta agree with whats already been said, OBS Or Shadowplay if on an NVIDIA GPU, i believe AMD have an equivalent but i dont know its name. Both of these are free as well
amd's is called reLive.
Anything but fraps kek.
I’m interested in building a pc, but idk if i should buy an external capture card. Will streaming on a r5 2600 or similar result in good pic quality with Rtx 2070/60 or 1660 ti be as good without an external card?
