This morning we rolled out a couple new features to the site:
- Completed build prices
- Part list history
Completed build prices can now be viewed from the long list of completed builds. You can also use the slide filter to narrow down to a particular range. Due to performance constraints, the price uses the default merchant and price settings rather than your user preferences. (We looked into the latter, but haven't settled on a solution for that at the moment due to it being extremely costly CPU/DB-wise to compute that many part list totals across different price preferences.)
In some cases completed build prices may be incomplete - i.e. when the owner hasn't added "Price Paid" data for each part and there isn't a current retail price for the item. In those situations, we mark the price with a "+", and show how many parts were accounted for in the total. Also, we don't yet do automatic currency conversion, so if viewing price totals for builds with "price paid" entered in another currency, we'll try to grab the current retail price in the viewer's country instead.
For part list history, we're still tweaking things a bit, but hopefully it'll help in situations where you accidentally swap out a part you didn't mean to, delete all the parts, etc. Basically on the top right of each part list is a "History" link - that will show you what changes you've made recently, and links to the part lists for each step. We're working on adding a similar concept to saved and completed builds, but it'll be a bit before we can roll that out.
