Does storage speed make a difference for average user?

Hi, im looking to add another SSD to run a separate OS on my PC. I currently have about 3000mbps read/write speed, but wonder if that is not an overkill for someone who mainly just edits text. Should i expect a significant slow in loading times, with a ~500mbps SATA3 drive?

Lol, no not really. You might tell but it wont be slow. What I find is sata3 ssd is way faster than hdd. When you go to nvme it is faster but not that much. Seems to be a combo of you shaved most seconds off (in waiting time) already, and the fastest drives really show best when moving very large files not when looking for normal files. I have a ssd in a sata 2, and it is faster than I expected and very useable for daily normal stuff.

I have a computer with both NVMe (970 Pro) and SATA SSDs, and for interactive and document editing work they are completely indistinguishable. For large project builds and database work, yes you can tell but it’s not huge.
