Hey all,

I'm on the lookout for a new machine. I was going for a full on AMD build, but I'm open to suggestions. Down below I have a couple lists I came about myself as well as suggested lists/parts. I'd appreciate if you could help me get a better bang. BUDGET ~$1500 USD - got some flexibility here. Also, keep in mind there will be 4 monitors connected to this build (day trading + gaming) - 3x AOC CQ27G1 and 1x VG248QE. Thank you!

PSU: Not too concerned about it as I have a 650w spare PSU.

Reddit suggestions: 1 - Stay.away.from.Asus.AMD.GPUs. 2 - You might get a little more out of a 2700x and a 2080 super

Also, I'm not a huge lighting guy. Thus the lack of RBG. I preach performance over aesthetics.

One thing to point is if you're going for a 3700X, then you'll want to go for an X570 mobo chipset to make the most out of OC.

Another that's bugging me, which PSU do you plan on putting in?

Also, what games do you play? Mainly AAA titles or less demanding stuff?

I agree with all of this. In addition, if you wanted a bit more gaming performance, switching to a 3600 from the 3700X will give you some extra room for a better GPU. Also, if you're doing a lot of multitasking, you could fit 32GB of RAM in your budget.

What would you suggest for GPU? I've been told to get a 2080 Super. Also, consider my main screens are Freesync.

I've heard that NVIDIA has made changes to the drivers so that G-Sync is now cross-compatible with Freesync monitors.

I did too. Tbh at first, I was gonna go with 2x RTX 2070 S GPUs. Im so confused where to go now.. I mean, I can spend the extra but would it be worth it?

If you're thinking of buying two 2070s in SLI, remove that thought and get a 2080. Seriously, SLI is kinda useless unless you've got the budget for two 2080 Ti s. Other than that, you'll benefit greater from just going up a level in the series.

Noted. I was planning to use an old 650w one but I think i'll most likely get a EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650w

Thanks

Might as well get the newer G1+ or the Corsari RM 650 (2019).

EDIT: I play CSGO, Metro Exodus, Might give PUBG-like games a shot. And some other 'less demanding' games.

-The R5 3600 is perfectly fine for any game, so going for that leave room for money spent elsewhere, especially the GPU.

-The RTX 2070 SUPER is very capable and will manage 1440p@60+ FPS on most AAA titles.

I've also gone ahead and included a power supply. The Sabrent Rocket M.2 SSDs are very fast so I swapped the Samsung/HP for this - while being similarly priced. I did also pick a different case which is $20 less since aesthetics aren't a big thing here. Although, the H510 is a pretty good looking case none the less.

Hmm. Thats something to think about. But real problem has been the GPU. RX 5700 XT seems so promising and with NAVi... but on the other hand, 2070 S costing ~$60-80 more. I'm kinda leaning towards the 5700XT because of my monitors being Freesync + take a risk on the NAVI endeavor.

Decisions. Decisions. Decisions lol

Well, maybe some comparisons and benchmarks can help:

In both of these, you will see that both cards are very closely matched, however, the 2070S does pull ahead of the 5700 XT, more noticeably when it comes to 4K gaming. Each card is a viable option, but maybe due to a lower price and guaranteed Freesync compatibility you might lean towards the AMD unit.

Whichever you go for, neither option will let you down, that's for sure :)

Yeah I know but it's like why can't I have both? hahah I think I'll end up with the 5700XT, unless we get them 5900XT within a week lol. Gonna update you with the latest list part soon. Thanks

Ofc nothing solid, Just building stuff to see how I can stretch my money but this has been the latest.

PS: It won't cost me all that much because there are some parts that are currently marked up for the week on amazon. So I set out alerts for when they drop. I'll be looking at around $1300-1350 $1450ish once the prices change drop and I get them at lower prices.

  • Later on I'll upgrade RAM.

You'll want an aftermarket cooler with that 3700X btw.

Anything in particular?

E: Gonna go with 2070S. As much as I've been excited for AMD, there's just too much for them to prove on the GPU sector.
