Why is my 3960X (stock settings) Cinebench score lower than most reviewers?

Hello all,

So my average Cinebench R20 score is 13330 compared to everyone else's average that I have seen of 13800.

Can someone please explain why?

Thank you!

Is it 2x8GB or is it 4x8GB? Are those the timings and speed showing up in BIOS?

Most reviewers IIRC are using low latency RAM at 3600MHz and the full quad channel setup.

Considering the difference is only about 3.5%, increased RAM latency is a possibility. Maybe double check your timings manually and do some tuning. If you only have 2 DIMM slots populated, there's your answer as well.

Which one is it? And either one I would guess is a bit worse than a 280mm or 360mm AiO with TR4 specific cold plate. Boosting behavior is affected by thermals and that affects scores.

Have you adjusted anything with the settings or is it at stock speeds?

They're at stock.

Reviews get picked chips sampled to them, and run benchmarks on a system that has been scrubbed so nothing can skew results.

Consumers have to deal with AMD's new binning, and having an actual working system with background tasks.

Take reviews for what they are a best case look at the chips across the board, and focus on your actual performance in what you need the system to do.
