Excellent Intel Gaming Build

CPU/CPU Cooler

For the Excellent Intel Gaming Build build we selected the Intel Core i5-9600K as our processor. To better cool the i5-9600K we selected the Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240L RGB which provides fantastic cooling at an unbeatable price.

Motherboard

The i5-9600K is an unlocked processor so we set the parametric filters for Z390 ATX motherboards that support up to 64GB of DDR4 memory, six SATA 6Gb/s devices, multiple expansion cards, and crossfire or SLI functionality.

Memory

With our increased budget we selected 16GB of RAM. The parametric filter finds the best price on 16GB kits of memory that are within Intel’s recommended specifications from DDR4-2800 to DDR4-3400.

Storage

Using the parametric filters this build will incorporate an SSD with at least 500GB of space and a minimum 3TB of mechanical storage at 7200rpm.

GPU

On a budget of roughly 1250 dollars we decided to go with an excellent graphic card. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 is one of the single best cards on the market right now. At 1080p or even 1440p you will not have any problems with AAA games and the 1080 is perfectly suited for VR gaming as well. When using an RTX 2070 you should consider stepping up your monitor to a 120/144hz screen for the best gaming experience.

Case

All of our components are housed in the NZXT H500 case. This case has a nice black finish, a large tempered glass side panel window, power supply shroud, room for enthusiast CPU coolers, watercooling radiators, two pre-installed case fans, and front panel USB3.0.

PSU

For our power supply, we're using a parametric selection of well-reviewed fully and semi-modular units, all of which are 80+ Gold certified and provide more than enough power for this system while at stock clocks or overclocking.

They are roughly equal with a 5-10% performance gain on the 2070.

thats not true because when you consider the affect the ray tracing will have when games become rtx enabled its another world and for the extra 200$ id say it worth it

He's talking about the performance gain with Ray Tracing disabled. Ray tracing is buggy at the moment anyway. I've disabled it entirely on my RTX 2080.

The cost is really minimal compared to the possible benefits you'll receive. People report that under full load, a good thermal paste (which you can pick up for less than $15) helps keep their CPU a few degrees centigrade cooler, which is always a plus.

Nope, the new i5 CPUs are 6 cores, similar to the older i7 chips.

The 9th gen I5s haven't shown any significant performance increase from the 8th gen, so getting the 8600k wouldn't impact perfromance and you can still save a buck. Also, the 8th gen I5s are also hexacores.

It depends on what you want to get. The i5 seems enough to me, specially if it is a only gaming PC, but if you want the extra performance you can go for it

Windows is generally around 90-100 dollars. You install it via USB.

Hi, I want to ask about the thermal management on the CPU. It seems like you have picked out the CPU and the GPU first as priorities, which I completely agree with, then you use the rest of the "Budget" on the rest of the components. I'm not sure how efficient or what the performance of the rest of the build compares to, but I question the performance of the CPU Cooling systems. Considering that it is still from a reliable-ish company, I still do not trust the Cooler since it is a Low - Mid end System.
I question the reliability of this system, Please inform me.

Um ok if you want to spend another $100 for no reason go ahead, I have been using the cooler shown for a while now and it is great for ryzen overclocking
