Exactly what I was looking for, doesn't run too hot and does everything it's needed to without issue.
I was originally going to go with a quad core cpu, but I'm definitely not disappointed I decided to go for the hexacore instead!
This is the least expensive hex-core Intel i7 available in a 2011-3 socket. The next step up is only 0.2 GHz faster, for which you will pay an extra $200. This was good enough.
6-core Haswell-E beast. Best performance per dollar on the high-end. With the money that you could buy a i7-5860k one can buy at least three of these and the performance does not scale equally.
Processor works very well! Its Intel! In tests the cpu does amazingly, even when running single core tests. I have never had any issues with multitasking on my computer
Very nice CPU, it has great overclocking limits and is very cool. I am able to reach 4.7Ghz, with 1.3v core voltage without any boot or stability issues. At idle, it's around 26-30°C, and at full load, (running Assassin's Creed Unity 1080p, 144Hz, Ultra settings, TXAA, nVidia Smooth Shadows) it reached a 56°C max. I really don't see any cons.
CPU overclocks like a bat out of hell... I am very pleased with its multi-threaded workload capacity and I see little reason to upgrade to the 5930K or 5960X in the near future. Handles gaming and web browsing across my monitor and a TV without going over 50% load (the game in question is ArmA 3) and is butter smooth throughout it all. Handled a six hour benchmark very well.
Pretty good, it's a little slower than my original CPU that I chose, and has a 28 lane limit for PCIe, but handles the job pretty well.
$400 for 6 cores, 12 threads, easy OC ability and amazing performance!? Get me one!
Oh wait, I got one.
5820K .. Well .. Honestly, not sure if I have to speak on behalf of this Chip.. It speaks Volumes on its OWN. This chip Tears through Anything you can toss at it. It has had NO Issues with any true day to day work loads. And even coming up with synthetic scenarios just to attempt to challenge it has been difficult
I have OC'd to 4.5GHz with no problems, however I keep it at around 3.8-4 because I honestly don't gain much. Even at base clocks, an amazing processor.
