from completed build Atlas Evolv'd X99
I did a lot of research before selecting an x99 motherboard. Asus seems to product top notch products, and don't strip off every useful feature for their "entry" level boards. This x99-A II had everything I was looking for, and supposedly should be compatible with Mac OS when I decide to load it on this machine. A nice clean black PCB and white LED highlights polish off an already good looking and feature packed board. I'm taking off one star because Asus's software suite seems to make the system extremely unstable, which is a shame.

Im not going to pretend it great, its not. Its nothing fancy, but just the best x99 board I can get for $300. I wish I had spent a little more getting the Asus x99 Delux II, better features and more reliable. Or even the x99 gaming motherboard. My reasons for this are not unfounded. The motherboard can't recognize my ram in one of the slots so it would only show 8GB rather then 16 and would BSOD. I used a different slot but I don't want to deal with this when paying so much for parts. Get a Motherboard with better ratings, trust me. But onto the good things: built-in basic LEDs, RGB header (I was so happy when I realized this had it that I almost cried.), M.2 PCIe Support, like a billion SATA6 ports, and well its price. It also comes with some good things in the box. If anything, I wish it had Wi-Fi, more built-in lighting, another M.2, but hey for $300 im not exactly complaining.

One of the more budget options for the X99 platform, this motherboard features everything you would need, and a little bit more. Great overclocking and an easy BIOS managed UEFI makes the board a wonder to work with. It falls a little short losing a star to price. It doesn't feel like a $200 dollar board other than the fact that it's an X99.

This is a top rate motherboard. In my experience Asus makes the best motherboards and this is no exception. The metal PCI slot is a great touch for those with heavy graphics cards. Also, the RGB lighting is a great touch for those who want to showcase their PC. Not as many features as the Deluxe or Strix editions but I feel that for the price it's a great option.

Tons of ports and room for upgrading, would highly recommend.

I love this motherboard. It is only 4 stars because ASUS rushed it out the door and it needed a bios update right away. I really like the RGB lighting and the ease of use. Another con is that the USB 3.0 for the USB 3.0 ports on the front of the case is not supported by windows 10 so you need windows 7 for those. This also as very attractive SATA cables and a very user-friendly bios. This was found at Fry's Electronics.
