Any variant of the GT86. Scion FR-s, Subaru BRZ, or, ideally, the Toyota 86. Also would want a turbo kit to bum it up to around 300 hp, and widebody cause it's cooler. I really love the limited edition orange 860 that Toyota put out. Saw one last week and couldn't help but drool. https://jalopnik.com/the-new-toyota-gt-860-special-edition-is-an-orange-reas-1793176842

Yeah, reseated it multiple times, cleaned the slot, reset BIOS, everything I could think of. I had a couple instances of a complete video freeze yesterday, but as they happened while I wasn't around I wrote them off as my CPU overclock (which I had to lower a few weeks ago) and dropped it down 100Mhz.

Sorry. I A) didn't factor in OC on the 2500k and B) Assumed the 7/6600k instead of the 7/6500 and a moderate OC on that.

How does a 1+GHZ bump, already a 30% improvement, plus IPC improvements of about 30% since Sandy Bridge equate to a 10-20% margin? Also, unless the paste is burnt out, the fins are full of dust, or the fan stopped spinning, a cooler doesn't go bad.

I have it at 4.3Ghz, I haven't seen it over 65 in Prime95 and FAH. The fan is great too, the only sound I hear (even at max) is a quiet whoosh of air going over the fins.

The (relative) high wattage of the e series chips does cause the VRMs to get pretty hot -- even with beefy heatsinks. I've had experience with a Corsair H110i, but I was getting BSODs related to high mobo temperatures. I returned the H110i and bought a CRYORIG A40 Ultimate. It's only a 240 but its thick enough to compensate. In fact, it was too thick to be mounted in a Corsair 350D so I just moved the radiator towards the window and fastened it through the grill. OC'd to 4.3 (stayed conservative, was for a school) and haven't topped 46 with Prime95 26.6. The "airflow fan" on the waterblock seems to have solved my BSOD issues.

You need a bigger pipe to the rest of the internet ie a better plan from the ISP

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Dual band router Ethernet question"

You only have so much bandwidth, independent of the router. Think of it like a pipe, it doesn't matter how big the router's pipe is if it has to squeeze through a smaller pipe to get to the internet.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Should I be worried?"

Redo your passwords first. If you're really worried you could format your drives (after making rescue media) but I would change the passwords, turn the internet back on and keep a close eye on task manager and/or Resource monitor. If you see a service/program under the name of the virus, kill it and turn the internet back off to try more antivirus steps.

If they were on the brink of bankruptcy, AMD would probably sell x64 to Intel for some absurd amount as a sort of last resort. My point with Nvidia was that Intel would need x86 competition, and Nvidia would need GPU competition to avoid monopolies, in which case they would each be split.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Don't fall into the PC gaming money trap"

I meant the time when AMD's drivers were notoriously bad with crashes, etc. I'm really not sure what you mean with your point about Intel, since they don't license out to board partners, they basically only offer a "founders edition." With Nvidia, if you don't want the founder's edition, you buy a different version, one by MSI, etc. And companies are now supposed to wait for the competition? Nvidia beat AMD to the punch, cut and dry. This has nothing to do with the founder's edition.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Don't fall into the PC gaming money trap"

Without AMD, Nvidia would have to make x86, Intel would have to make GPU's, or they would both get split to avoid monopoly. Nvidia vs AMD is pretty stupid, but that's corporate battles for you. intel beats out AMD because consistent 10-20% IPC improvements over 4 years is better than "slap on more cores, overclock it" for 4 years.

AMD doesn't do the same thing, at least not on Gameworks. They release open source API's that do the same things.

they have released drivers that are unstable in the past that they didn't immediately take off the site

Sounds like the old Radeon drivers...

Founders Edition cards

Nvidia isn't allowed to manufacture and sell it's own products? And charge what it wants? God forbid.

Gameworks hurting performance on AMD cards

Have to agree here. Worse is that AMD continues to produce similar things but makes them open source, but Nvidia refuses to take a hint and follow suit.

Taking notes from a successful attempt is common practice though. Pascal probably takes cues from Maxwell and Kepler, Polaris and Vega from GCN, etc, etc. Sandy was probably derived from Nehalem. Everyone does this. You learn from your successes as well as failures.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Don't fall into the PC gaming money trap"

Nvidia hurts AMD worse than Intel ever could. Gameworks is just an excuse to cripple AMD cards that are otherwise on par or better. AMD tries for open source that helps everyone. Yes, Intel needs AMD to avoid a monopoly, but it's AMD's own fault that they literally sat on their *** for 4 years without an architecture. The only thing Intel ever did to them was patent x86, so they pay a licensing fee. But AMD licenses x64 to Intel, so it doesn't even matter.
