You should. It's a fire hazard and can damage your cables. It also improves airflow. Just because you don't have a window doesn't mean it's an excuse to not do some quality cable management.

i7 is starting to get some use in the new games that are optimized to use hyperthreading. So an i7 is probably his best choice for gaming at high specs, and i'm sure the 16gb will be somewhat of a future proof factor to make sure that even in the coming years, he'll be more than set if games reach over 8gb.
