35c at idle is very good, you should push that thing to 5.0!

A2dB's Completed Build: Just another mITX build

JacobGunther12 1 point 2 months ago

Great build, but I think you way overpaid for that GPU. $499 is too much for a 1070, as I can find a 1070 Ti for around $350.

Yeah, probably not. Maybe 3-5 depending on how fast games progress to better graphics.

What speakers are those? I noticed they aren't under your parts list, and I am actually looking for some speakers at the moment.

Can you post more pictures? These are very low quality, can't see much from this.

Squaric's Completed Build: Updated console killer

JacobGunther12 0 points 8 months ago

Well, then that isn't considered a "true gamer", that would be a casual gamer. If you just hop on for fun, you should go for a console. Some people still play console, even for competitive use, which is okay, but using a PC for that scenario would be easier because of non-locked frame rate, customize-able graphics, etc. Also, you can use a controller on PC if you are more comfortable with that.

Squaric's Completed Build: Updated console killer

JacobGunther12 -1 points 8 months ago

You can build a low-end PC for around $550-700 and still outperform consoles in every aspect. The only reason that consoles still exist is because of their reduced prices through bulk purchasing of hardware and small form factors, and simplicity. If you are a true gamer, you should opt-in for a PC.

local_troublemaker's Completed Build: My daily driver #midrangebuild

JacobGunther12 1 point 8 months ago

Ryzen is more than suitable for gaming. Although recent benchmarks have shown that Intel is better for gaming over price for performance, the extra threads that come with Ryzen really makes other tasks a breeze, better than Intel could do.

local_troublemaker's Completed Build: My daily driver #midrangebuild

JacobGunther12 3 points 9 months ago

Yeah, that's definitely not a mid-range build, I'd say high-end.

Forum Topic "Ryzen 7 2700X compatible with the MSI X370 SLI PLUS?"

JacobGunther12 submitter 1 point 9 months ago

Awesome, thanks! I probably won't be changing my motherboard since I most likely won't be utilizing overclocking unless I need to.

Forum Topic "Ryzen 7 2700X compatible with the MSI X370 SLI PLUS?"

JacobGunther12 submitter 1 point 9 months ago

Ok, thanks a lot! I never even noticed that page existed. Also, what types of "newer features" does the 2700X have that the X370 doesn't support?

I've updated the part list with the new monitor.

Forum Topic "Potential new build this/next week"

JacobGunther12 submitter 1 point 11 months ago

I actually prefer to have a 128 GB SSD because all I am installing on it is Windows and maybe some other software. Otherwise, thanks for the build. I'll research more into how this can benefit me.

JacobGunther12 submitter 1 point 11 months ago

Lol

Forum Topic "Potential new build this/next week"

JacobGunther12 submitter 1 point 11 months ago

Yes, but I still want to leave head-room if I wanted to upgrade other things too, like RAM and CPU.

Forum Topic "Potential new build this/next week"

JacobGunther12 submitter 1 point 11 months ago

I picked that monitor because it's cheap and has IPS. It's also a smaller 21.3" monitor which I prefer over large 25" monitors.

Forum Topic "Potential new build this/next week"

JacobGunther12 submitter 1 point 11 months ago

Not sure why you changed the RAM, as the price went up $40 for no reason.

Forum Topic "Potential new build this/next week"

JacobGunther12 submitter 1 point 11 months ago

I picked the 650W PSU because I plan to upgrade to a 1080 in the future.

Forum Topic "Potential new build this/next week"

JacobGunther12 submitter 1 point 11 months ago

I'd like to keep my current monitor, as it's my favorite one too.

Why the i7-4790K? There are much better CPUs in that price range. Otherwise, great build!

Nilick's Completed Build: Twin Kings

JacobGunther12 1 point 13 months ago

What's that smell?

Could it be...

A FEATURE?

I think this build deserves the featured spot. This has all of my favorite parts, even the CPU, memory, video card, and fans. <3

Ok, thanks. I'll go with that and update the part list.

Edit: when I was looking for 128 GB SSDs, I only saw $280+. I'm a big fan of Samsung so I like to stick with that.

This is actually the best build I've seen on this site in a long time, but that might just be because I haven't seen this site in months. +1

EDIT: People should really stop complaining about things that you did wrong in your build. It's an overall great build!
